Hi KimJ I agree with you that my husband shouldn't have been goaded into having his melt down which is what I see it as because I am sure he is AS too. My son was swearing at him and saying come on and hit me then, nah you won't will you. My husband shouldn't have taken the bait but unfortunately th... |

Hi, I am learning from all of you on this web site all the time, I realise now that I should have just walked away. He told me afterwards when he was saying all these things to me that he wanted my attention, which I find odd because he had my complete attention. There are issues with his Dad, he is... |

Hi, I have come in to my work to escape my home for an hour and to make contact with people who will understand. My 12 year old son has had what I think is described as a melt down but this is by far the worst. At one stage he had a twelve foot metal bar he was trying to hit his dad with. It doesn't... |

I hope so too, I know I just have to be there for him and try to keep calm, but when I'm really tired like today, I'm scared I'll lose it and start screaming at him too. Does it sound sick but sometimes you feel relieved when he's had a meltdown, because then he is much calmer and nicer to be around. |

I have visited the web site at just the right time, because last night my son whose 12 and just diagnosed with AS had a terrible time. It seems that he had a maths test yesterday afternoon and made the excuse of having an asthma attack so that he could get out of it. He then went off after school to... |

Can I ask what does 'stim' mean. I have read all the posts with great interest, my eldest has a vocal tic which is a snorting noise and has said not to mention it as it makes it worse, and because its an unusual noise its somehow easier to ignore, it is definitely worse when he is anxious or stresse... |

Yes, he had quite a turbulent childhood, his Mum had all kinds of problems and had electric shock treatment he was only young when he remembers his mum being taken off in an ambulance he thinks she may have had a breakdown. I never knew his Dad, he died before I met my husband, but my husband always... |

I can understand what you are saying but that is not my only reason for thinking my husband has AS, he doesn't make eye contact when talking he finds it very hard to look at you, and as I said he takes things in a very black and white way, so that someone can say something in all innocence and he wi... |

Reading your account was really interesting. I have a son who has been diagnosed, and an older son and husband who definitely have some traits but have never been diagnosed. Reading your account was like the three people in my life all mixed together. My youngest has terrible problems fitting in wit... |

My son has only just had a dx so nothing has been put in place at school, other than what I have asked for, he does have a time out card which his teachers say he is using very sensibly, I have an appointment with a link nurse (someone who works with me and then goes to the school to put strategies ... |

Hi my son has just been diagnosed with AS and his anxiety about school, or more to the point having friends in school is one of the main things we'd noticed about him. He goes from one dilema to another about his appearance because he feels he doesn't fit in or look right, even though he looks just ... |

My two boys have tics, the elder used to have a facial tic which seems to have gone but he makes a snorting noise when he is stressed. The younger boy shouts out random sentences that sound like dialogue from TV programmes. and recently just had to shout SATSUMAS in the middle of an English lesson w... |

Thank you for your reply, you have given me some good advice, the people we have seen appear very generalised, I am visiting a parent support centre that I found information about next week. so maybe they will have details of other psychotherapists we could use instead. |

You know you people really know where its at, when I think back my son is doing less and less activities mainly because of his confidence, we have just got him some guitar lessons (first one last week and he loved it) now I have to think of some other activities that aren't team orientated, that wou... |

The paediatrician I saw said he didn't have tourettes (he has only visited the clinic twice) today I have seen a miracle happen, I told him that I didn't believe he had Aspergers but had somekind of vocal tic and an attention problem, he has been a different kid, only a bit of shouting out this afte... |
