I was (I thought) a full-blown alcoholic for around a decade. My wife threatened to throw me out (again) and this time it seemed a realistic threat. I stopped drinking. Haven't touched it in 2 years + and don't think about it, don't go to meetings, happily drink non-alc beer when I want. It is now a...

You know; Germany!

I'm fairly tech-savvy, but not being very visually artistic I don't ever use photo editors. I'm on Ubuntu. I have 36 photos I want to make into a simple, rectangular collage so I can have it printed on canvas or similar. What is the simplest way to do this? The free, online collage makers have photo...

I have a long-term pun obsession. My kids call it 'dad humour' and consider it normal, but it obviously isn't!

Is this a common thing with Aspergers?

I absolutely LOVE puns.

I've see this before (firewood is one of my special interests), and I think it's a recipe for strained wrists. Also he's splitting silver birch which is super-easy to split. The best (IMO) splitting maul/axe is the long Fiskars one (X27). It is superb. Ridiculously light too, so far easier on the bo...

I (rightly I think) assume that nobody wants to hear about my all-consuming obsession with chainsaw repair, firewood, my own music etc so I never talk about it. Not even when asked. I used to play in a band that had some success and I would never talk about it when asked. If questioned I would want ...

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts kind people! I called my GP today and made an appointment to begin what will doubtless be A Long Process! My wife is very pleased. I am very scared. I think it is right for me though; I need to find out if this is definitely what is 'wrong' with me. Although ...

Even at 6'2'' with big beard, and the sort of physique one gets from heavy lifting all day every day, I come across as fairly effeminate. Always have done. People used to think I was gay (even close friends) until I married. Not that I have any issues with gay people at all. In fact I am a big gay-r...

Would I like friends? Yes. Friends are a normal facet of a 'successful' adult's life. Would I know what to do with a friend? Would I enjoy a friend? No, almost certainly not. I have virtually zero interest in other people. I like visiting my brother's family (for example), but after a day or so I'm ...

As a man, I massively struggle to recognise women I 'know'. I am better at men. For example, I drove past my neighbour yesterday. I looked at her because she is attractive (only briefly). She looked back and smiled. I blushed and looked away. Later I saw her car parked next door and realised what ha...

In the middle of decorating the house/installing new, super-modern (light grey/minimal with a few bright yellow accents) kitchen. The old fridge freezer (tall with freezer at the bottom) is good, but looks kn*ckered). White paint is yellowing and there are a couple of dings. The only think I've thou...

Thanks Davvo, your points are very interesting. My wife (who is absolutely convinced that I am autistic) is being increasingly supportive as she seems to be arriving at the belief that I simply cannot cope in these circumstances, or at the very least they make me extremely uncomfortable and unhappy....

(new here) I think this is fairly common behaviour across the internet, not just in this context. A: I think this, this, this and this. What say you? B, C and D: We think this. A: (new thread) Today I think this and this. Etc. People (in general) seem to favour their own proverbial voices. The thing...

Thank you all so much for taking the time to respond! You are all very kind. I think the main (only) reason for me to attempt a diagnosis is that I might feel better about what I've always considered my massive failings as a human. Specifically that I am almost completely friendless outside my work ...
