Two suggestions: 1. Have you looked into dating Asian women? I had a 30 year old (never dated before) colleague that met a women from china online (I think it took about two weeks from the time he joined the online site to when she booked a flight for her first visit). The language barrier was huge ... |

When this happens, my blood pressure rises and I need to evacuate the area. I am so bothered by the noises you describe that I have ended relationships as a result and had to move out on a roommate. Not sure that this is something to unique AS--I am "NT". |

Try to get him to agree on a certain date where he will start looking and pack up the playstation. If he wants a few weeks/month fine, just get him to agree that after date X he will look for work. |

My son was diagnosed with ASD a year ago. Today, I wonder if SCD is the more accurate diagnosis. He has always loved playing with other kids and does not have problems with change or restrictive interests. He does perhaps stim a lot- mostly through hyper-active movements (I am not sure if they are A... |

I had no choice but to participate in the whole thing called life, and I hate it. I probably usually sound a bit dumb, but hey, being a girl that's fine. But I really don't do well with words, both in speaking and in writing. It's very frustrating, not being able to express yourself. It's absolutel... |

I notice very often that these two diagnoses are lumped together. Should they be? I notice that most of the posters on this forum write brilliantly, but have an Asperger's diagnosis. If they are the same/similar, at least later in life (this is what I gather from most of the studies on the subject),... |

At its most silly it can be like when people offer you something just to be polite, but you're expected to decline but instead you accept and now they are pissed. My wife once scolded me when someone left the room telling me I was SUPPOSED to decline the hosts offer of a drink. This is just ... |

Of course, not everyone with AS or Autism act the same, plus I was a girl who typically didn't get diagnosed until my mid-20's when my whole life was nearly ruined. Girls tend to behave a bit differently and are often misdiagnosed or not at all. :( Did your getting diagnosed help you? My sister's s... |

What kind of help have you tried to give her? I (and i guess the rest of my family) end up "babying" her. If she stuggles financially, I/we give her money. If she is sad, we give her hugs. If she wants to talk, we try to listen (although I am not the best listener). My wife thinks we "spoil" her. M... |

What was I like as a toddler? By toddling stage a lot had already happened in my life. At six months of age, my married parents decided to divorce and dropped me off at an orphanage, refused to tell my grandparents where I was, telling them "She's dead to you, you'll never see her again". Two foste... |

I was a typical toddler, reached all the milestones at the average stages, and didn't seem to have any issues with mixing with other children at preschool. Well I think I might have been a little shy but some toddlers are anyway and it wasn't enough to be peculiar about. I wasn't delayed in speech,... |

I was supposedly an unholy terror! Among other things, breaking a wooden chair over my older brothers head as he sat watching TV. Very reckless with myself as well, diving onto concrete, etc. Then at age seven I became an angel. I followed instructions, was very respectful and excelled at sc... |

Hmm...I am female, was developmentally delayed (coordination and speech) still by 2. I walked late and motor skills were poor. I had my first words by age 2 (I had a total vocabulary of 10 words, no two word sentences) I could not use those words to ask for something. I could not talk in sentences ... |

When I was a toddler, I wouldn't talk much, and I was much more hyper and curious. I also had the tendency to wander a lot and get myself into dangerous situations (I once got inside a neighbor's rabbit cage when I was three). I also refused to sleep, be potty-trained, or eat my vegetables, and am ... |

I am very curious what you (or your child) were like as toddlers (symptoms/biggest struggles) and what you are like today (symptoms/biggest struggles). Since my son was diagnosed a year ago with ASD I have tried to get an idea of what life might be like when he is an adult. I realize that diagnosis ... |
