Him: beep, beep! I'm a buzzer, beep, beep!
Me: I'm not a fish, I'm a pinata
Him: charles cheese!
Him: mummy I can't see you, where are you?
Me: I'm in the land of fish!
Him: SAVE ME!.....charles cheese!

I am a preschool teacher with several children with ASD. I am a new teacher so I am wondering when you hear your children saying these funny things, how do you respond? Most of the things I hear are cute and innocent. Sometimes they are disruptive or rude and a response should be something besides ... |

My son was convinced for ages that women had two bums, one on the front and one on the back. He also thought that people were born as girls then turned into boys as they got older. When he was 4 he started crying on the way to nursery asking when the war was going to start and saying he didn't want ... |

I read an article written by a doctor who said that the majority of children referred to him by parents thinking their child had ADHD actually had hearing problems. He said he got to the point where he would just test the hearing of every patient referred to him before he would even look in to ADHD. |

I use past examples, learned behaviour, copy of others behaviour, etc, I apply all of these to the problem, determine what the options are and decide which would be the best to take before finally making a decision. I reason what the best solution to a problem is that would get the best or most accu... |

was never into the whole getting married thing when I was younger, I hate dresses and wasn't keen on the idea of spending my life with some guy. When I met my fiancee we discussed marriage after a few weeks and I agreed when he proposed (I knew in advance that he would propose) now I can't wait to g... |

It's no appropriate or hygienic (especially if it's a poo), however, if I went to a cafe or public place and the toilets were not child-friendly then I would be forced to change them wherever I could. For example, once I was at a cafe with my son and he needed changing. I went to the toilets, the fl... |

Most of the time I don't even notice when people insult me. If I do then it takes me so long to process what they have said and think of a response that by the time I'm ready the blank look on my face while my brain was working makes them think I don't understand what they have said or that I'm slow... |

love anime but love manga more, it's the artwork that does it. To say that people with autism/asperger's all like anime would be the same as saying they all american comics like marval etc. I don't like them because they are ugly, they talk too much and most of it is about fighting. A lot of anime i... |

I have asperger's, I have never had any gut problems, I have a stomach like lead. I constantly change my diet and it's never made any difference. My NT partner and family have gut problems but no autistic traits. Sounds like rubbish to me |

can imagine what stuff in my dreams might feel, taste or smell like. For some reason I rarely hear or imagine hearing things in my dreams. Thanks. Not sure I can afford therapy at the moment. I keep trying not to do it, I know it's stupid but yeah it's like a compulsion. So annoying. At least no body can see it, except when it gets really bad and I start moving my head, I'm always watching in case I start doing that too. |
