Interesting topic....I should also mention the cutting edge work of Michael Levin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Levin_(biologist) [...] Morphic resonance (Rupert Sheldrak and Carl Jung) on steroids where every living being has a mind that is connected.[...] Or to put it simply - collective ... |

Anarchy has the fundamental issue that self-governance reaches its limits relatively quickly, and a larger organisational structure would have to be put in place to handle issues between communes, and soon, you're back at having a state. And nation states are in fact not the worst ideas, I mean, the... |

Stealing is objectively evil not simply because you are taking what you did not work for, but because your creative effort did not go into taking possession of it, you destroy the value of it. The victim is at a loss, but the thief gains nothing. Theft is irrational, always. And so the destruction ... |

I agree, actually. But by dehumanizing the victim, I would argue that people are behaving irrationally and outside their own self-interest. If YOU can get away with murder by dehumanizing someone, YOU could also be murdered when someone decides you are an inferior species. So it's absurd to do that... |

So I make no bones about where I stand on the issue. My particular view is this: Humans possess freedom and a rational mind. This means that life is a choice and the greatest human value. Being the greatest human value establishes life and its preservation as an objective ethical and moral standard... |

All nice and well, but animals show what we would call moral behaviour - reciprocal behaviour being one, and a sense of unfairness (at least towards themselves.) My guess is that religions have hijacked an innate sense of morality in the human animal, but just because our brains are hardwired ro exp... |

They're even worse: they don't care about women, they just pander to a certain kind of voter, and it might not even be that those voters care. They just get off on pissing you off. That's where politics are now. And what else should it be about? Economic decisions are much too important to leave to ... |

Territory means buffer zones against invasion, and it means population to tax. Small countries are economically and militarily weaker. The solution to that would ve defense agreements and free trade zones and such, but the more countries you have the harder it gets ro find a common set of rules. And... |

My personal belief system is rooted in more than economics as I believe a state is important and it is vital that the state ensure its working class is physically, mentally, and financially able to have children. When the working class cannot afford to have children, they lose the will to defend th... |

There's a massive difference as to why leftists today still find allusions to communist symbols - and actually communism - acceptable deapite the horrors of the soviet union: Communism promises workers' democratic control. The Soviet union was a brutal dictatorship, but democratic control still soun... |

There's that or the radical opposite approach, via block chain, where you're logging every little noteworthy thing you do to various block chains for $$ - whether it's getting your steps in on Sweatcoin, or getting your stay-at-home-mom credit through some future MomCoin, or tracking your spiritual... |

Well.duh. But apart from basically removing abstract monetary gains from the entire system and relying on something like social recognition as reward for behaviour - which worked in small groups but there's a reason it hasn't scaled - I'm unsure what to do. There's an approach by some German or Aust... |

She's totally right, but I couldn't hear much of a solution apart from 'make people pay for twitter to change twitter's incentive'.
Basically what jaron lanier has been preaching for years. |

There's been a lot of talk lately about the sort of jump to push a trans identity on gender nonconforming youth, who in previous generations would likely have either aged out of it or come out as gay, where as now many of them are steered on the path to medicalization, which is concerning. Because ... |

Christianity, as I read the Bible, was always supposed to be separate from politics IMHO. Except, you know, humans got involved. I feel like Pope Francis knows the right messages to emphasize for these times. But of you actually take the bible seriously, you'd have to give away all your wealth to t... |

There's a lot of social pressure on women and girls (at least in the social mainstream) to put a lot of effort into their appearance, often to an unhealthy degree. Some writers say these social pressures have gotten worse in recent decades. According to one U.K.-based survey, 80% of 11- to 21-year-... |
