The MMR doesn’t cause autism because my daughters were diagnosed with ASD before they got that vaccination. I’m worried about the dTAP. After that vaccine I noticed a behavioral change in my last daughter. Soon after she stopped imitating, stopped babbeling, doesn’t engage and is very quiet etc. So ...

Hello, I vaccinated all 4 of my children. 2 of my girls are diagnosed ASD and my 6 month old girl is showing signs of it after the dTap vaccine. I’m worried I may have caused it by letting them get vaccinated. I would love to hear stories of people with autism who are not vaccinated to make me feel ...

Hello, Two of my daughters got diagnosed with autism and I asked Kaiser to do an autism panel test on one of them (the one who has coverage with Kaiser). She ended up with a SCN1A gene variation and we decided to check the rest of the family. Turns out me and my son have the same genetic variation b...

Thank you Soyer, your advice means a lot to me. That was very sweet of you. I am trying different angles teaching my little one, but it can get really frustrating at times because it's not sticking in her head. It seems like she's very behind compared to her peers and the problem is she really doesn...

My 5 year old daughter has moderate functioning autism. I'm concerned because she has a learning issue as well. Her neurologist suspects "auditory processing disorder," but she's too young to test for it. She's having difficulty with phonics and is horrible at writing and remembering stuff...

Hi,

My 5 yr old daughter has autism and was recently prescribed Namenda from her neurologist.

Is anyone on the spectrum taking namenda? If so, what are the results and side effects?

Any info will greatly help!

Thank you!

I really don't want to offend anyone and I never meant to be mean. I am just curious because my daughter has autism and doesn't know how to coordinate her body to music an I noticed her cousins on the spectrum are the same way. So just out of curiosity, I was wondering if there was a commonality wit...

I should have been more clear about what I'm trying to ask. I was wondering if autistics can move their bodies smoothly to any type of music? And I'm not talking about simple back and forth steps, I mean can they grove and move their entire bodies to the music??? I know a lot can play sports but it ...

Hi,

Just wondering if a person with autism is able to get down and dance really well (like in hip hop) or play a sport like basketball?

Thanks,

Mariam

I'm NT and I love giving and receiving affection. My daughter has autism and when I hug her sometimes she looks off and keeps her arms straight down. I always have to prompt her to wrap her arms around me. When I don't get a hug from her it makes me feel like she doesn't care to give me affection. I...

I'm NT and I find it hard to maintain friendships too. Everyone knew me in high school and I was considered popular, but I never hung out with people once school was out. I don't really talk to people on the phone or go out with friends. It's not that I prefer to be alone, it's just that I find it h...

My daughter has moderate/high functioning autism. Her father and I are "NT" (however I'm starting to think my husband may have Aspergers). My daughters grandpa was an architect and her dad is a doctor. Does the way the brain is wired for "engineers and doctors" lead to autism in ...
