Defintely. Yes. Yes. Yes.
There have also been many other threads I have found in the past discussing this same issue. I've found it for awhile one of the most curious things about me, not to mention how frustrating it can be when other forms of getting people's attention don't work. |

I am presuming this N(1,2) notation refers to mu=1 and sigma^2=2, which appears consistent based on the fact the problem works. First for the mean: You will have t terms of 1 divided by t, so therefore the mean of the running mean will be 1. Next for the variance: Since variance of a sum of random v... |

I believe they are just the numerical codes for the diagnoses in (presumably) DSM-5. They at least match up to an online listing I found for DSM-IV-TR. |

The First Amendment is irrelevant unless people are advocating legal consequences to the word's usage. It says nothing about social consequences, which as far as I am aware is the extent of the movement for the word's eradication. |

I dual boot Windows 8 and Ubuntu on my laptop (using the former only seldom as a last resort). At least the way the Ubuntu installer sets it up, it first boots into GRUB, with an option to either boot Ubuntu or to switch into the Windows boot sequence. |

Another factor could be that people who struggled to eventually accept their own diagnosis might be projecting their period of denial onto others. Therefore, they might falsely assume that others who were misdiagnosed are just in the same denial period. |

Admittedly I have not viewed the video clip, however it is the job of police to uncover and investigate crimes involving vices that are deemed illegal. Beyond that taking illegal drugs, especially in combination with prescription medications is inherently dangerous. I know he may have more issues w... |

I have a Windows 8/Ubuntu dual boot, but I have only booted into windows twice so far with much dread (although main contributor to that is the OEM bloat, as I have never bothered to clean-up the windows install yet), so I almost use it as standalone linux. |

Personally for me, it is not that I need a reason to hang out per se, but I have difficulty comprehending how to arrange to hangout without a specific reason. I would generally happily accept a more specific invitation, but I am almost clueless how to respond when simply suggested that I hang out wi... |

I feel like I can relate to cats a lot, but not to other animals. Dogs seem quite strange to me, for example. I am defintely much more of a cat person than a dog person. I feel like I can easily bond with cats, but I can do little more than tolerate living with a dog (and I struggle with that at ti... |

I suppose it does come down to moral frameworks as to how people would view anti-cures in a post-cure world. As you point out in your post, the common human moral preference to inaction (ooh, more trolley problem applications!) would be in our favor. I now realize my analogy was set in framework wit... |

What I find a scary implication of this choice: Hypothetical: a magic pill is invented that will permanently turn anyone with ASD into an NT with full social skills (grossly improbable simplification of more likely scenarios, of course) As we can see from discussions like these, some would readily t... |

Although, I will admit, my skepticism often does have a strong emotional component. In all honesty, the idea that ASD could be gastroneurological vs. primarily neurological is quite unsettling to me. I've become quite accepting with the idea of my brain being different, but feel like it would change... |

Perhaps it is because there has been so much pseudoscience related to diet over years, not just with Autism, that I have become a very strong skeptic of almost all non-mainstream theories. That is not to say I believe we have a perfect understanding of nutrition, physiological, and all GI-related pa... |
