Interesting story, but not much new. The level "autistics want relationships" is painfully low, and I bet the conference won't go into the more interesting differences that are so important to the success or failure of neurodiverse relationships. I'm hoping that we do represent neuodivers...

Hi all, Love is Survival. This is why I created Love & Autism: A Conference with Heart in Sunny San Diego on August 23-24th. Autism can not be reduced to behaviors and compliance. Relationships are fundamentally human and this does not change with the neurology associated with autism. There is a...

Donna W is quite an autism advocate. I'm so pleased to have her speak at an upcoming conference: Love & Autism: A Conference with Heart. I resonate entirely with this notion: "Man, I wish I had a close friend who understood me and accepts me for what I am." Without prejudice, without having to worry about whether or not they'll run when you slip up and say something really stupid. That's the extent of love I want. Its never the sunse...

LupaLuna- You are right...relationships exist in many forms not just intimate partnerships- but parent-child, sibling, co-worker, friend, relationship with self, and yes...also lover. I also agree completely that LOVE takes a huge vulnerability to depend on someone which requires trust and self-este...

Our primary goal in life is to LOVE AND BE LOVED and this doesn't change when you are born with the neurological differences associated with autism. As an autism professional, I am tired of the myths that people ...
