I think it's a kind of coping strategy, to compensate for the fact that social interaction might not come as naturally as it does to others. I think all people do it to some extent. Isn't that culture? |

The parallel conversation is I-centered, too - is that deliberate or accidental? I think it may be by convention, as it is sort of required for a communication to have a source. If you get a voice in your head stating some sort of information, then you don't tell someone else that you just had this... |

Adderall, as an amphetamine is in the same class of drugs as meth, and people who abuse meth often feel this need to perform repetitive tasks such as cleaning or otherwise manipulating things, hence the slang term "tweaking". From the sounds of it, Adderall causes you to "tweak", so it's probably n... |

Are you familiar with Alan Watts? It's long, but the gist of it is that sanity is a consensus. Worth a listen, if you're interested in mental health issues. As for schizophrenia, it's an umbrella diagnosis that they give to everyone who ... |

I think it's kind of a gamble. At one point i lived in a housing thing with two people with aspergers, one of them seemed to handle drinking well to the point that it actually helped him, the other one did it to forget his problems and ended up in a lot of trouble (he threw a guy through a store win... |

You sound like you are having a normal reaction to amphetamines, which you wouldn't if you had ADD. I'd get some second opinions if i were you, adderall is not at all healthy long term if you don't need it. |

Like some people have said here, people with AS often come across as rude or arrogant. I'm guessing that's why they were cold initially. Maybe they approached you because they recognized they might have misjudged you based on that? My guess would be they aren't interviewing you, they're trying to un... |

I don't think you can really rank people by how attractive they are. Attractive people aren't necessarily attracted to other attractive people, and i don't mean just physically. It's a bit more complicated, everyone likes different things. Just as an example, many people with eating disorders worry ... |

For me, it hurts, like staring into the sun. I also feel naked, like the other person is staring into my soul. What do normal people feel when they make eye contact? Some reassurance that the other person is "in tune" with the conversation so to speak, a shared thing that i think a lot of people he... |

I don?t think I am egoistic or selfish any more than any average person, but I have tremendous trouble in reflecting outside what I have inside. Like if I see someone smiling nicely to me, I can?t get my face to react socially. What happens to a typical person is that their body automatically react... |

I am autistic and I don't get along with most people regardless of their dx or lack there of. I mostly just want to be left alone. But I need to stay employed so "anthropology" is one of my hobbies I've been described as manipulative, cruel and self-serving, though i don't feel like i've been any o... |

Rather i've been trying to be social and polite in spite of my own problems. I have a hard time tuning out what other people are saying to me, and i'm always polite to a fault. Don't know how to say no and that sorta thing, and i often find myself thinking aspies (the ones i've met) are egocentric ... |

Does anybody know of videos that show a complete date in a hidden camera type of format, from beginning to end? I would really like to see how the conversation flows over the course of the date, and not just see the highlights. That is something that I would love to see as well. I think that part o... |

Hello! Not a bash thread by any means. I'm diagnosed with schizophrenia with myself, and am just wondering why i can't seem to get along with people who have aspergers. It's less pronounced in other autism spectrum disorders. So, here's the thing: Over extended periods of time (living together, goin... |
