If you don't have issues with executive dysfunction, you'll probably think only "WTF?!" about this post. But in hopes someone gets it, here goes:

I can't figure out how to buy the PIM (organiser) software I need for my PPC. Executive dysfunction making it a PITA to get support for, well, EF issues! There was a 2-week trial, and I had thought I could uninstall and re-install the trial while working out how to get my own legal copy. Well, that was naive. Via the registry editor I don't see any entry I can remove.

The software is inexpensive and a great value, so there is no question - of course I can and want to pay for it. (Not that I believe in pirating expensive, bad-value software.)

And now I feel up-a-creek, the progress I was making organisation-wise during the trial is down the drain. (Is there a further water metaphor I could mix in there?)

I also need to find a fan for my T42 ... which of course is a completely different issue, but there is desktop-only software I could be using on my laptop right now for the EF issues, IF it didn't have that lovely 'fan error.'

Oy!

I tried to follow your post but you lost me with the terms: PPC and T42. Can you elaborate? If you want a freeware personal organizer there are lots out there to chose from.

If you like to software buy it, messing around the registry when you don't have the knowledge is a waste of time.
I would also stay away from using any hacks like keygens most if not all are infected

Sorry! PPC = pocket PC (windows mobile) -- T42 = my IBM laptop.

Which do you recommend? I really like aspects of Sbp Diary, but am still new to this + am happy to learn more.

Windows mobile eww :( iPhone better, but still :( since very closed, mobile phones that run a Linux distro or other open source OS :D However many mobile phone companies probably don't respect the freedoms of opensource/freesoftware as such, with saving a lot of money being the main reason why they decided to use it.

Executive dysfunction is less of a PITA if you have a handler or assistant. (An NT to do things with that can translate and help deal with issues.)

doesn't your pocketpc have some kind of basic PIM? or at least a to-do program? I remember seeing pre-included in a windows mobile one.

Yes, mine has Outlook mobile or whatever it's called. The task list is pretty primitive, and is separate from the calendar and contacts.

At least one U.S. mobile service provider contracted wth Spb for their home screen and PIM, so perhaps you've seen a decent default PIM.

I found a re-seller that accepts PayPal, figured out how to re-activate my PayPal account, and bought Spb Diary - sweet relief! At the moment, I'm using a trial of Spb Pocket Plus, with Diary in the home tab. This helps keep everything within sight + easy reach.

For sequenced and repeating tasks that occur more than daily (e.g. 'eat' repeats 2 hours after it's marked complete, 'wind down' 3 hrs, 'drink water' 1 hour), I've re-installed MyLifeOrganized but am keeping an eye out for something that works with (vs. separate from) Diary.

Now I have to figure out how to order the fan for my notebook ...

good to know you've found at least a solution (:

about the fan, is it still under warranty? If not, why don't you just take it to a repair shop, or replace it: http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/mess ... ge.id=7273
