Another question: did the print screen function formerly capture the cursor as well?
In Win95 and WinME, the cursor was included. I'm glad they omitted the disturbing cursor when making WinXP. As long as I have needed to make snapshots, PrintScreen have copied a snapshot of the screen to the clipboard. Over the years, its format has changed from bitmap to some sort of vector format, which is great. I guess it was in the days of Win3.11 that it would print the screen directly to the physical printer.
The break and pause keys (if not the same key) are useful when programming and is some other special situations. I have not found any use for the scroll lock key except in DOS.
I just played around with my mouse and found that the scroll lock key will stop the super fast scrolling after pushing the scroll wheel button (yes, I have a windows wheel mouse).
