No one uses session manager? How do you deal with when you have to restart firefox (due to crash, install update or extension, etc?)

Firefox always restores my session perfectly on its own. I can crash my whole system and Firefox will restore all my tabs and windows next time I start up.

I've been meaning to ask you: don't you find dealing with Seamonkey inconvenient? As far as I can tell, there's no decent update process other than "download the new version, uninstall the old one, and re-install the new one." It's a hassle. Getting 1.1.14 was a nuisance, and after I finally got around to doing it they updated to 1.1.15 and nag me about having an outdated version every time I start it.

Wow, I never realized that! I've been using session manager since way before it used to do that...

And apparently session manager does other things as well, like "undo closed tab" feature, that regular firefox doesn't give.

How do you live with NoScript active? I used it for a time in my Vista Firefox, and it was the most obnoxious piece of software I've ever installed. Basically just disabled the Internet in the name of "security." Pssh. I'll just use Linux and have no worries.

I like NoScript, but have computers with XP or Vista and I'm also stuck with dial-up internet speed, so anything that reduces the load is good for me. Most web sites only want to use script for advertising purposes anyway, and the few web sites that are built entirely on script and rely on it to show anything I simply don't visit. Surfing the web for me is largely a text based affair with dial up, so no big images or fancy graphics.

Also have:

* AdBlock Plus

* Flashblock - this is great for sites I do allow to script such as my bank as it still blocks their big flash adverts.

* Free download manager plugin - great for unbroken downloads but it gets in the way sometimes.

* British English dictionary.

* Disabled AVG safe search because it reduces the internet connection to a slow crawl when doing Google searches.

Control+Shift+T does that in a default FF.

What's a crash?

$ uptime
14:15:56 up 16 days, 13:09,...

(I think I rebooted a couple of days after getting a new kernel installed - it seemed about time to start using it.)

(PS. SeaMonkey is in the Ubuntu repositories. I'm on 1.1.12 - I.e. they don' rush updates.)

Oh, so you just use the out-of-date version. I guess that's one option. But you're three versions behind now.

I'm testing (playing with) the beta of Chrome 2.0. It's fast. much faster than Chrome 1.

If I could just have the aforementioned add-ons for Chrome, I'd be happy to switch. I need my dictionary too, but Chrome has that built in.

yeah I quite like Chrome 2 too :p

added Web Developer extension today, and liking it :D

thanks lau!

The ones I have are

Firebug
UrlParams (underused)
Met Office Weather (rather s**t)
WebDeveloper
FireFtp
AddBlockerPlus (although you can do quite a bit of blocking just with user style/scripting)

That’s it ATM.

I have a ridiculous amount of browsers for testing.

yeah me too... but my favourite ones are only used by 30% of people who visit our website. 70% of them use IE. I want them all to die.

I had to test the website on IE 8 today and it was traumatising :?

IE quirks are annoying as hell but it is Opera the caused the most problem for me in the early versions. There were some wacky inconsistent graphical problems.

Well opera was behind on a lot of things like ajax for a long time, still I rather a browser be behind than batshit crazy or both.

Opera started off on mobiles, it owes most of its success to that. Though they still have quite a small followship.
