I suppose I could keep entering the keygen code every time but that would get tiring.

Wait, you don't even know how to work the firewall that came with windows? I seriously don't understand how you're incapable of working a firewall or finding a crack/keygen/patch that works for photoshop. Where did you get photoshop from, some torrent site? Do you even know how to use photoshop? I highly doubt you do. I just cannot believe you understand how to use photoshop, I just can't.

From what I know, any program thats certified to be non malicious can include a code that lets it bypass your firewall to 'call home'. I would never allow pirated software anywhere near my PC for the sole reason it can contain some very dangerous stuff such as viruses, spyware and even hackers can use it to gain entry.

All Adobe programs require security patches and updates from time to time, this is another reason they auto connect the the server to let you know these are available.

I know of only one way you could use this program without this happening, but I'm not giving it out as the topic of this thread concerns illegal activity :?

Photoshop just like any computer application takes time to get your head around, I use GIMP, which suits all my design needs so far. Just jumping in & straight saying that someone doesn't know how to use it is a bit harsh. Everything is learnable, I have never used photoshop but if I come into the sort of money that would allow me to run it legally, then I would use it.

Why do people feel the need to argue & ignite flame on here? Grow up.

Pretty good stuff there. The top one's the Obsidian Order, but I don't know the one below it.

The problem is, since you're bypassing the company, you also bypass tech support. If you want, or have questions, there are a zillion add-ons (brushes, filters, actions, yada, yada...;) for download out there.

I Kinda put a kink in Gimp because I found the resources for it at deviant art, and now I have something like 700 brushes, but once they're loaded, it still works fine.

Since you're downloading something with no support, you also have no protection from script kiddies, hackers, and other bad hats in general. It's possible you might have luck in getting juarez (the Mexican version) that work, but them's the chances you take.

Your best bet would be to find some forums dedicated to what you're looking for. Granted, the legitimate groups (those that shelled out for it) will give you a very cold shoulder (banning would just be the start) won't help with questions like this (I've seen what they do with requests like that...;) but if you ask general questions, and don't reveal your source, you might get some help.

I don't think that we really need to insult digger1.

But Digger1, you do raise a serious concern. If you obtained the software from a less than legitimate source and if you've also obtained Keygen etc, then it follows that either someone else gave them to you - or you visited some potentially unsafe sites. I'd strongly advise you to spend some time learning your firewall - for your own protection.

Yes we do. I always insult criminals, especially the ones who are bad at what they do.

Good point. Using an insecure OS and visiting dubious areas of the internets without knowing your security software is a dangerous thing.

I'm sure you feel better- it won't disable itself on you now that you have a legit copy, and you don't even have to learn how to configure a firewall.

Now, I thought aspies are immune to group think. I'm not endorsing piracy, I just think that digger1 is entitled to his own opinion. Man, I hate preachy people.

Am I entitled to my own opinion on the ethics of theft?

I don't understand how people have such a hard time with the concept that stealing is wrong.

I entirely understand how people think filesharing is stealing, and think that intellectual property laws are based on sound moral ground and not on corporate monopolies.

And I find it appalling.

A strangely ambiguous final line. To what part of the preceding sentence does the word "it" refer?

Filesharing is of course not stealing, if the file is being shared with the originator's consent.

IP laws are just that - laws. Laws and morals are two different things.

If an individual chooses to sell their monopolistic intellectual rights to a corporation, that is their choice.

If you wish to rewrite the laws, then there are ways of going about that. Until those laws are rewritten, expect to be penalised for breaking them. You may also expect people who abide by the laws to show you no sympathy.

Support open source.

Most of us don't consider it stealing - when you download music a CD doesn't magically disappear from the store.
