I like them both, although I don't really use Linux as much as Windows though. Ubuntu on my PC is pretty much gathering dust and only used for messing about, might delete the partition soon for something more useful/another distro.

I use Windows 7 on my main rig due to my wifi driver not working even with ndiswrapper. Once I get a wifi card that doesn't suck, I'll start depricating my NTFS partition (but will likely still keep it installed for a few programs)

Ubuntu runs on my laptop.

I'm a Windows user by necessity, but I'd be a Linux user by choice.

Linux if you are a Geek. Windows if you are not a computer specialist.

Where's the option for "more than one of the above?" I run Debian on an aged iMac G3 and (currently) dual-boot Ubuntu and Mac OS X on a MacBook, though the MacBook has seen a variety of dual- and triple-boot schemes.

Ubuntu or Debian would be my favorite Linux distro.

I would have go along with dual or multi-boot also....I have XP only on my net-book, but my laptop boots XP and Fedora 8.
In fact I am posting this from my Fedora partition right now.

I am planning on trying Jaunty (ubu 9.04) on my desk machine.

I use Windows XP because I already own a full retail version. Otherwise I'd think pretty hard about switching to Linux.

I built my computer in 2004, and I think it may even last me until 2012 as long as Adobe Flash Video Player comes along with hardware acceleration for 720p and 1080p video. When I do build a new computer I'll probably just reuse Windows XP until 2014, which is when there will be no more security updates (Thank you netbooks). Then if I'm still poor I'll switch to Linux. Although maybe Google Chrome Cloud OS will be available by then, and they will give away free computers! lol

I have to say, Jaunty was a relatively disappointing release for Ubuntu. Too much stuff was left broken in the final release (like, I dunno, freaking Intel graphics that tons of people use) and ext4 support wasn't quite ready yet (which is why the default is still ext3).

Good news though- sometime in the past couple days, Debian Squeeze finally upgraded to Linux 2.6.30, which has a lot of extra benefits over the older 2.6.26 that it inherited from Lenny. Debian will likely be returning to my laptop soon, especially since my dad is reclaiming the Debianized iMac for Mac OS 9.1.

Linux. My brand new Canon Rebel xsi DSLR camera was auto-recognized when I plugged it in through USB.

So the windows and mac disks will never be opened. Whats wrong with windows that it cannot auto recognise such high end quality hardware? Why should I need to install anything?

I have horror stories about Vista and HP printer drivers... never gave me any trouble in Mac or Linux. And Mac didn't need that stupid disc that the printer was bundled with, unlike Vista.

You can thank Apple for that, for their excellent CUPS software. Linux uses CUPS too.

For the uninitiated: CUPS = Common Unix Printing System.

I'm excited for that release too. Finally we'll get to dump the bloat of universal binary while moving to a more fully 64-bit system.
