OK, my first boss strategy of the........um.........moment!
Name: Cerberus
Game: Devil May Cry 3, (End ofMission 3)
Brief Biography: Not much to say here, but the homicidal canine guardian of the Temen-Ni-Gru. He shares an affiliation with ice, and, while contemptuous of mortals, will give his soul to anyone who shows their strength in battle.
Attacks: Now, as you may have guessed, Cerberus has three heads. Depending on which one is top-dog (so to speak), they will perform different attacks. One will fire a big ice-boulder at you. Another will fire a stream of cold energy at the ground, freezing it, and you if you stay/land on it. The last will call icicles from the ceiling. Occasionally, they will charge at you, and they will sometimes swipe at you with their paws. Finaslly, they can summon a line of deadly ice spars to rise up from the ground.
Effective strategies/weapons: Some preparation is needed, particularly since DMC3 is the hardest in the series. Make sure you have enough Red Orbs to buy 2 Blue Orbs at the Goddess of Time statue just before the fight. You need 15000 Red Orbs (to get more, just go back into areas such as the street in front of Dante's Office, and the alley leading to the bar, and fight more enemies). You should also have at least one Vital Star S from picking it up at the start of Mission 2. Buying a Yellow Orb is good insurance, should you have the funds. The effective Style is Swordmaster, and you should be able to do Aerial Rave well (slicing enemies in midair, when you have Swordmaster style on, jump in the air, and press O repeatedly). Another technique that's good to learn is the "Ebony and Ivory Hover". While firing your handguns in midair, Dante's descent will be temporarily halted, which is what you need to avoid the cold beam one of the heads spews out.
You need to take out the ice covering Cerberus' three heads before you can do any damage. Use Ebony and Ivory, or Aerial Rave. Then use Aerial Rave to slash at Cerberus' heads, as you should get 2 or 3 with a series of Aerial Raves.
For one of the first bosses, he's actually quite tough, and it's likely you may die trying to figure out what's going on, so don't worry that much. You'll know victory is coming close when he starts loses a head.....then a second. Things will heat up. Just watch for any attack cues and avoid them.
Spoils of victory: The Cerberus three-headed nunchaku. Plus access to the Temen-Ni-Gru. As you approach the door, you get a rather spectacular sequence introducing one of the main characters of DMC3....
Easter eggs: N/A
