I'm doing one from scratch!

I have a metal brake that I built for myself, a lathe and a welder and miscellaneous other tools.

The case is going to be a double walled deal, possibly with some sound baffle material.

One thing I am musing about is hanging the motherboard in there so that the CPU fan points down. What do you think about that?

I used to custom build years ago, the last case mod I created (2003) had missile launch style red flap covered toggle switches and lots of perforated aluminium with red and blue glowing cold cathode tubes.

I would like to build mine into a mahogany and brass case, maybe like this kind of stuff http://theantiquephones.com/Doc_Links/Misc.htm and wondered how quiet a fan like this http://www.dyson.com/fans/ might be.

Well, I broke my metal bender on the first bend. The force of the bend sheared off the handle. Back to the drawing board.

I love the physical aspect of computers more than the software.

For some reason I don't like the idea of programming but I love physically assembling high-end PC's.

I'm on an i7930/GTX470/6GB x58 rig int he Corsair Obsidian 800D case, all watercooled.
