Hi all, I have been concerned recently that I have some kind of key logging software on my computer thr I may have inadvertently downloaded. I consulted Ctl+Shift+Esc and checked the processes but the only thing that seemed out of the ordinary was a process called 'system idle process' and was 99 under the CPU column.

I ten consulted msconfig on command prompts, and looked at the startup processes. There was one startup thing there which had no name, no location and no command.

Question is, what should I do we either of these? I don't want to delete anything in case I bugger up my computer, which by the way is windows xp home edition if that aids your understanding of the problem.

Any help will be appreciate, but let it be noted I'm not exactly a young Bill Gates do don't baffle me with any technical jibber jabber.

In summary, I might have key logging software on my computer, have I done everything right? Thanks a lot, Fred :D

System idle process is a standard Windows process. Microprocessors work all the time even if the computer hasn't been given a task to do. It fills in the time by going around in circles doing nothing i.e. system idle process.

You can check your system with Malwarebytes (free version is good). It can remove undesirable software (malwares, trojans,...). If there are problems when running Malwarebytes, reboot your computer in safe mode and try again.

Well I don't really fancy downloading anything even if it is beneficial as whatever it is is causing my computer to run slowly. I hav Kaspersky pure on my computer and it doesn't seem to have picked much up on quick scan but I can't do full scan because it would take like 2 days because as I just said its running slowly.
