Sure, I'm addicted to it but know it and know why - like I said in another thread, there's nothing wrong with a crutch when you know why you need it. It's a lifeline for me as it probably is for lots of us, because (with the big exception of the personals, which never work for me) for friendship and dating, including offline/in real life, it works!

I've been addicted for 5-6 years.

I can talk to almost anyone online, but in real life, it's a different story. I can be myself online and that's why I like it. People can have their opinions, but honestly, there is just way too big of a connection with all of us on the board for it to be what they think.

I am addicted, and it is killing me.
So many f*****g bullies on the Internet, so many bullies in positions of power (IRC opers are 99% bullies) that every day I just want to f*****g end it all.

Yeh Im heavily internet addicted. Basically on average I wake up and spend all day on the internet browsing. I do little else. When I dont have the internet it feels like my brain has to adapt in the same way drug users have to recalibrate the pleasure centres after heavy usage

The definition of an "addiction" boils down to doing something you KNOW is harmful to you in some way and yet you do it anyway.

I can't live without the Internet. Without the Internet I fall apart. Its mainly the news and some of my other sites I go to that is important and I HAVE to know what's going on in the world. TV is obsolete. At least for the news aspect. CNN just repeats millions of times. I've been going on the Internet since the 90's. At the same time not as obsessively as now. The only time i am without the Internet (of course not completely) is when I leave the house. While I don't have my own cell phone, my parents have theirs. On top of that, when I bring my tablet to places we go, I have this hotspot. Its because without the Internet, I am nothing. So, yes, I am addicted.

The biggest question for me is. Am I addicted to the internet or is it the social outlet I have long for. If you really think about it. When it comes to socializing. Aspies are 99% language and NT's are about 7% language. Now think about this. Text based communication(as in internet usage.) is 100% language based. We don't have to deal with body language, social cues and facial expression since they cannot be conveyed through a text-based communication system. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to concluded that the internet can be the biggest social outlet for aspie people.
