I want the equivilent (or better) of what BlackICE was

The firewall that blocked hackers and crackers. I want it for Windows 7. Thank you.

BlackICE might be gone but ZoneAlarm is still alive and kicking.

Personally I find the built in windows firewall works fine if you configure it to block everything then allow programs access individually.

I dated a guy who said exactly that, and he hacked into my computer.

I should realise, really. Why would anyone here advertise a product that went against their favourite hobby? ;)

I was being quite serious. All firewalls do basically the same thing.. selectively denying connections to ports and ip addresses. The one that comes with windows is free, lightweight, regularly updated and works. I was the IT manager for a multimillion dollar corporation for 15 years and it's what I use.

It's a little offensive to lump all of us together into a category saying that we all share a hobby of violating the privacy of others.

Unfortunately if your going to meet every suggestion with paranoia there's little we can do for you.

After what Zone Alarm did with the scareware bullsh*t they are dead to me.
You are right, config Win Firewall properly and you'll be fine.
