It freezes a lot. Especially when I'm typing a long message, like here, I'll be lucky to get through this post. It'll probably freeze after I get through typing this post and am about to hit Submit. It's so annoying. I'd like to go back to Windows8. Does anyone else have this problem, other problems, or have any advice on how I can fix it? Yay, I made it. Now let's see if it'll post.

I've been having difficulties since the anniversary update. It worked great before that, but now freezes regularly - the screen goes black, aside from my laptop's 'On Battery' icon which suggests that for a second it stops charging, and it's like the laptop has temporarily shut itself down, then it comes back as normal. I've also just had to switch from Chrome to a much more basic and lightweight browser, because (this may be the same problem you're having) I was experiencing major lag when trying to type or scroll.

Windows 10 is very bloated and full of minor bugs and glitches. Every once in a while, my right-click menus will get messed up to where they just show arrows and no text, and I have to log out and log back in to fix the problem. I also had trouble where the Photos app would immediately close with a "Remote Procedure Call failed" message, forcing me to do a registry tweak to switch to the vestigial Windows Photo Viewer that was used in Windows 7. That issue was eventually fixed.

My workplace requires me to use it on my work computer; I have already put in a complaint to the help desk about Win10's tendency to decide for the user that too many windows are open and 'helpfully' close some that I was actively using in the course of my work  I managed to avoid Microsoft's attempts to force the 'upgrade' on my home device, and expect to migrate to some form of Linux when security on versions of Windows older than 10 is no longer updated.

My dad's workplace exclusively uses Windows 7 and occasionally XP. The employee laptops were designed for Windows 10, but they had all of them downgraded to 7. At least there are others besides us who hate Windows 10.

Despite being a professional Windows application developer for my entire working life; I've learned to hate what has happened to Windows since Windows 7 and have abandoned Windows completely now and use Linux Mint instead nowadays. My wife still has a Windows 10 laptop and that crashed and burned during the anniversary update, rendering it unbootable.

I hate Windows 10. Ever since I installed it, I am unable to play the Sims 2 without it crashing. I've tried a recovery, but it still automatically installs Windows 10 back on to it afterwards. I am so disappointed, I love playing the Sims 2.

You Tried the Basic. run as admin computability mode with windows XP. sims 2 is pretty old ;P Windows 10 runs anicent games fine for me. Problem is that if its a Disk. it block it because it dosen't want to install the anti piracy Programmes. Cause they lead to a security leak. anyway Google is your friend

For Windows 10, try changing the visual settings to optimize performance.

1. Click the file icon on the Task bar.
2. Right click "This PC" in File manager and click properties.
3. Click Advanced system settings on the System page.
4. Click the Advanced tab, click the Performance settings option.
5. Click adjust for best performance and apply.

I am not having any of these problems with Windows 10.
It's pretty much doing what an OS should.

It may be that this is because I am running it on a Surface Pro 3 and the default settings are good for that device.

But it is a data point that it can be stable and not exhibit the kind of freezing the at you describe.

On the subject of the despicable Windows 10, is the update they sent out last night/early this morning bad, or did our download just get messed up??

At 4 AM ish (couldn't sleep) I was able to get online and send an email. At 7 AM, Windows would no longer function. My husband knows much more than I do; he says it is a Windows problem and not a hardware problem because he can access the BIOS. He talked me through restarting it; it goes to a black screen and then immediately back to the BIOS, wash rinse repeat.

I'm trying to learn to "do this computer stuff" so I don't have to harass him to fix every little hiccup (and also because I would like to enter the job market in 2-3 years and I'm sure being able to do more with computers than word process and surf the Net is pretty much necessary to getting a job that pays more than minimum wage).

Is this a crappy update, an accidental and unavoidable error in our download, or did the download get messed up because I unknowingly interrupted it sending email at 4 o'clock in the morning (or something else)?
