Retro-Gaming is where you play a computer game (or arcade game) on a modern computer, but where the game is somewhere between old and ancient. Many retro-gamers have Space Invaders, Adventure, Dungeon and a few other classics. The uber Retro-Gamers don't touch stuff any more modern than 1969.

Myself, I've got oolite (a version of Elite - a brilliantly addictive combat/trading game that dates to the mid 80s), xchuckie (A clone of Chuckie Egg - another wonderful 80s game), Dungeon (the predecessor of Zorks I and II), Xtank (Car Wars has nothing on this!) and Xtrek (a Star Trek-themed kill-everyone-else game).

So, what ancient games do you admit having (and playing)?

I'm not as much a fan of the ancient games, but I do tend to gravitate towards games from the early to mid-90's. I'll play anything by Sierra, basically, and some Westwood, and I'm ashamed to say the Microsoft Games from Win 95. I do have a soft spot in my heart for Tetris though. Always will.

It's not exactly ancient... or even that "retro." But I could be content just playing games that were released for the SNES and Sega Genesis....

I remember my uncle playing Elite, it was very massive from what I remember.

My favorite old game is Racing Destruction Set for Commodore 64. I loved making tracks... so much detail and yet so easy to create... and racing with insane gravity... great fun.

The first couple Monkey Island games are classic. All of the Lucasarts games from that era, really.

Any one play Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders? I watched my uncle play and beat this one. I know about it despite never playing it myself... the game was hilarious.

One hilarious bit... you sold a normal fork for basically nothing... yet when you bent it, the shop owner thinks it's a priceless artifact and gives you tons of money for it.

Plus the opening music rocked. 8)

Actually this is related, I am a fan of commodore music... mostly Rob Hubbard. What that guy could do with the sid chip... amazing.
