I was looking forward to buying one once it came out , but it appears those hopes might be dashed and will have to stick with Android. I am hoping the Pinephone works out but not holding me breathe. Any one else in the same boat?

I was looking at it but as more of a curiosity. I'd like to move away from Android to something more open, but for now Linux still doesn't look that compelling. It's not so much that I'm tied to any particular services on Android, and more to do with the lack of full basic functionality and reasonable performance with the alternative.

I decided to get the Cosmo Communicator, which comes with Android preinstalled but has the option for various Linux builds with an unlocked bootloader. Though I've yet to receive it, it should ship soon.
