Every non-fixed instrument and piece of furniture in my office has wanted to kill me at some point. I know this because they told me so 8O.

The article states you should not use a ball chair - because it promotes C shape, not S shape?? Does that mean the exercise ball is no good?

I'm sure these alternative chairs would be very comfy, increase productivity, reduce health care costs, etc. But the thing is, though, that NTs would never accept anything like this. I mean, they wouldn't prevent you from using an alternative chair. But using one of these "weird" chairs at a cubicle would just open an Aspie up to even MORE criticism and ostracism as a "weird" person who "does not fit the corporate culture."

Oh whatever. You are overestimating the social rigidity of typical people.

On the other hand, instead of them being rigid, they might copy and want a chair like that for themselves! NTs are more prone to copying off of others. For instance, when I moved into my current house, my next door neighbors used to take their freshly washed clothing, and drape it over the porch railing. When I tied rope across my porch, and hung my things up with clothespins, I noticed that they were doing the same. When I strung tiny lights across the porch roof to make it look pretty at night, two other houses now have lights as well.

Update: These past couple of days I've been using a chair I thought was wayy too uncomfortable if I sat down the regular "old" way. Now I've been sitting in it kinda in the new way, "perching", and find it very nice (:

I stand at work unless it is the end of my shift and I'm running paperwork. I've tried sitting in the office like the other managers, but it is painful both physically and mentally.

That said, my most comfortable setup at home had me kicked back across a chair as though I were in a funky cross between a hammock and a recliner (I was sideways across a large overstuffed armchair) with my keyboard to the left of my lap, and my mouse about a foot off the ground, so I dropped my arm downwards to use it. It was painless, and I felt fantastic.
