What I'd like to see is to have spider-sheep so that you could easily gather their silk-wool.

Apparently spider silk has similar properties to Kevlar. But I think genetics shouldn't be played around with.

Mankind has been "playing" with genetics ever since plants and animals have been selectively bred. The wheat and corn we eat is the result of selective breeding. Dogs are the the result of selective breeding practiced on wolves. The cattle we use for hide, meat, milk and other products are the result of selective breeding. Compare the "natural" long-horn steer to the kind of steers that are slaughtered to provide steaks and ribs for the People.

I think genetics should be played around with. Much more so now, when we actually have some idea what we are doing, instead of virtually at random, with selective breeding.

BioBricks and similar projects and/or products are now putting genetic engineering into the hands of hobbyists and amateur scientists.
However this craft like fire, firearms, and power tools should be treated with respect.
