Hmm, AOL...... not the best ISP around me thinks, they service they offer here is okay ut they are not very consistant, and thier support can be frustrating.

oleg, I have verizon dsl(raises hand)not sure of up/down speeds but its about 1 second maybe from click to fully loaded web pages. with the 327w westell gateway modem. (with versalink)it is ok for the person who loves speed. the layout of the toolbar on top I almsot like aol's accept it don't verbally say "youve got mail" when you get email. (I can live with that) with verizonyou can choose to put in yahoo or msn messanger. I chose yahoo. also if you are on the road away from your home computer you can still get to see your email by going to www.verizon.com/verizoncentral then click on mail and more and then type in your password and email address and it will show you your email.

yahoo and msn its almost same as aol accept the price and that you put in the messanger seperately. all I used aol for was imming and chatting and I can do same thing with aim and yahoo so not really missing much. my dad cancelled aol and is going into effect 10th of june. the tech at cancellation dept for aol said that since we were long time customers, (since aol 1.5 for windows) with no problems they gave us the use of our screennames for life for free to use on aol.com website. right after call, my dad put in aim messanger and the buddy list transferred to my aim when I registered with aim. they also automatically installed aol explorer browser too so I wonder, why was I paying 25.90 a month for the same thing i'm doing for free accept paying 17.50 for verizon??? oleg, if you have problems you can im or email. also what I like about it is when you do get a problem, the help number is easy to remember 1 800 567 6789, and you get a better chance of getting an american.(english speaking) it is also voice prompted with that computer virtual adviser at first, all you do is press 0 until it says connecting with an agent to bypass getting asked your name and line number verizon high speed is used on.

For those who want to email me, the address is same as my Y!(yahoo) id

all that wonder about verizon's antivirus its from etrust (computer associates)

I personally perfer norton symantec (I even put it on new puter that replaced dead laptop) remind me to never use MACAFEE AGAIN! I was told it was a boot secter dump but its last error was vguard.exe has a problem and needs to close then I got screen saying restore with recovery disk. then thats when all bad broke loose. I have a feeling vguard has to do with mcaffee antivirus. (second computer mcaffee claimed the life of!!)

sorry about my rambling,

jess

Verizon has been pretty good where I'm at...installation was simple...set my router up without any grief...very little down time.

Be aware that the email account they provide for you will filter out alot of things that you may not want filtered with their settings...you may want to keep a free email account for forum sign-ups and such or you may never receive your passwords.

I opted out of both MSN & Yahoo...didn't care for what either offered and I don't do the IM thing.
Have my own anti-virus and firewall installed..

Toolbar is typical...you can uninstall if you don't like it...

I'm on Blueyonder broadband had a maxinum transfer rate of 480kb/s before, think it's around a 2Mb connection.
