OS X Yosemite on an iMac, iOS 8 on my iPad Air. Both delightful.

Same OSs here but different hardware.

I also run Windows 8.1 on Macbok Pro and it runs near perfectly...

Primarily for daily use I utilize the Android OS because of convenience. I have it on my tablets and smart phones. Unfortunately it doesn't work in every situation so I have a Windows 7 based laptop PC :)

Windows, as I like to play games. I'm anticipating Windows 10 more than any version of Windows before it. I'm really looking forward to the changes in DirectX 12, WDDM 2.0 and native VR implementation. Currently I'm using Windows 8, which I've only been using the last week as I built a new system. Wish I'd changed earlier because it is faster than Windows 7 in certain applications I commonly use. I'd avoided it because everyone kept saying it was as bad as Vista, when it is most certainly not.

I use Ubuntu because it's the most suitable OS for my hardware and the most compatible with the software I run (mostly games and emulators). With Mint, even programs that run okay often have issues after coming out of full screen mode like system crashes/screwed up resolution and I can think of at least five programs that I'm able to run through Wine on Ubuntu that I can't in Mint.

A lot of people see Ubuntu as Linux for Dummies, but I don't think that's the case because there are plenty of programs I wouldn't be able to use without command line interaction. I think the only way I would get the same level of compatibility elsewhere on Linux is if I used Arch and installed everything from the individual dependencies onwards but then I'd just be reinventing the wheel.

I'm running a hexa-boot system at the moment, I have Mac OS 10.7, Mac OS 9.2.2, Fedora (linux), Ubuntu (linux), Windows 7 professional, and DOS.

Will replace Ubuntu with ShadowOS once I complete it, but that'll take a few more months, maybe a year.

What do I use them for?
Mac OS 10.7 - Software development
Mac OS 9.2.2 - Old games, some software development
Fedora - Software development, research, communication
Ubuntu - Pretty much a placeholder for ShadowOS.
Windows 7 - Gaming, gaming, and more gaming.
DOS - Old games, more software development

(I love older systems, but there is no new software available for them.)

Windows 33%

My laptop is running Windows 7, but I do all of my work in a Debian VM using VirtualBox. Gives me the best of both worlds.

It's much, much easier to let Windows handle the laptop hardware, as that's pretty much the only thing the manufacturers care about supporting. It suspends/hibernates gracefully and reliably, with no fuss. And that way I can still play games, use much more software, etc.

My Debian X desktop is managed by fvwm, and is extremely minimal, as any clutter at all distracts me if I'm trying to concentrate. All I want from a desktop is a neat way of managing xterms.

I like using Macs too, when I have them/can afford them. My MacBook of 6 years died recently, hence my switch to my Alienware 17 laptop(which I love) full-time.

I've always loved FreeBSD more than Linux, though, as it's just so incredibly tight, lean, and efficient. But I end up working on Linux more, due to it's greater popularity.

In a nutshell, I like many OSes. :)

Since I could only pick one operating system, it was impossible for me to vote. Windows 8 runs on my desktop, Android OSes run on my phone/tablets, and Ubuntu Linux Server runs on cloud servers and VMs that I mess with.

I'm usually somewhere between Windows 7, 8.1 & Fedora 22 for development purposes & research. You're right that Fedora is really good for messaging, I'm simply always studying when I boot it; I looked at finding an ARM build for a Galaxy Tab I need to re-image; instead I'll hopefully be able to run Fedora in Cyanogen based Android.

No such thing as Fedora #! it seems...
I'd still be using Ubuntu if not for the fact that half the time I get things running sooner on Fedora anyway, and making the weird Canonical chroot defaults settle down takes some work these days.

We were using Windows 7 until a couple of years ago after I got extremely fed up with every Windows laptop I used decided to stop working after a couple of years. Initially I bought another Windows as we couldn't afford a Mac, I took it home and it was crashing from the word go. Took it back to PC World where they said it was MY fault because I entered in a non Microsoft email address (hahaha because I'm THAT stupid I'd believe them... No one with a Windows OS uses anything but Microsoft, right?!?), was advised to take it home, wipe it clean and start again with my Hotmail address, which I did, and of course the problem was still there. Took it back and exchanged for a MacBook Pro on buy now, pay later. Best decision I've ever made regarding anything technology.
It's still just as fast as the day we took it home, it runs beautifully and is very simple to use once you wrap your head around the differences after being used to Windows for years. I have had one problem with it - it decided not to switch on properly one day, out of nowhere. Kept directing me to a page that wanted me to do something I didn't understand. I forget now what exactly the problem was but I called Apple and they couldn't figure it out either, got me to wipe it clean (losing absolutely everything!), that didn't work. In the end, I can't remember what I did (really should've written it down!) but I fixed it by simply pressing two keys LOL
Other than that, it's been a dream to use. And it obviously works very nicely with my iPhone and iPad (and my son and husband's iPhones too). It currently runs on OS X Yosemite. Not many differences between that and Mavericks.

Ah I have iOS 8 on my phone, but I can't update it to iOS 8.4 because I keep running out of free space! I need a 64GB rather than a 16GB because I can't bring myself to delete things, even though I don't use many apps I just can't do it. Deleting my photos doesn't seem to free any space. Can't wait for my contract to be finished.

I bought my computer over a year ago and it runs Windows 8.1. If I feel a compelling need to play with Linux I have a VM I got from Cloudera I can launch. My computer has 12 GB of RAM so VMs are not a problem however I am generally happy just using Windows 8.1. A few years ago I had a computer set up that would dual boot Windows XP and Ubuntu from separate hard drives in such a way that the Windows disk (which had come with the computer) was not modified in any way, but then I had to replace the Ubuntu drive with something else. But honestly Ubuntu wasn't as stable as Windows XP for some things although I did use it a lot at the time.

BTW after more than a year using Windows 8.1 I haven't had a lick of trouble with it, and I do fairly heavy-duty stuff such as running VMs and WebSphere. I don't know why so many people complain.

Also I have a mobile phone running Lollipop and I don't have a tablet if that matters.

My everyday use desktop runs Windows NT 4.0 service pack 6a and my laptop, an IBM ThinkPad runs Windows 98 Second Edition. I also have another desktop running Win2k but due to hardware problems everytime I try to boot it I first have to run a install disk repair or else it sticks on login and only loads explorer.
