I am not sure what I think about it yet...I like the lack of internet explorer, I hate that browser. I have yet to try playing League of Legends if it runs any better that is +10 points for windows 10, or hell make it 11. I have not played around with the display options yet if it has more than windows 7 that's more points in its favor. It does seem entirely compatible with my hardware so that is good...have yet to see if it actually comes with a free upgrade for the DVD thing, which it should according to a couple pages I looked at but otherwise there are free ones you can download that work just as well from my understanding. I guess there are no free games....but its not that hard to find solitaire on the internet, which is about the only free game my computer had to begin with not to mention even more random internet games.

It does have solitaire, the games are all in one app that came with it rather than the way it was in windows 7.

An while they replaced internet explorer with edge as the primary browser, internet explorer is still on your computer. It's just hidden. I actually haven't used edge.

Oh I thought you had to pay for the app with games...in which case, I am perfectly satisfied with online browser games and League of Legends. And I know internet explorer is still there if I want it, but don't plan to use it.

It's called microsoft solitaire collection and is free and comes with the computer. I haven't had to pay and I've used it several times.

It's not so much "spying," as it is a requirement to allow things like Cortana to work. I like Linux a lot, but things like Cortana simply can't work anywhere near as well if they don't collect all they do. I've used Linux for a long time on the desktop and like to keep certain things on my computer private, but I'm not worried. Unless you're engaged in terrorist activities, traffic child pornography, or do anything seriously illegal and immoral, I really highly doubt Microsoft cares what you're doing with your computer. If you're a person of interest to the government, it doesn't matter what OS you use, there are numerous ways to spy on your activities regardless if you're using Windows 10 or a hardened distribution of Linux.

I like Cortana, and I like Microsoft getting feedback about the way I use the OS, and any problems that occur. That kind of information is actively used to improve their OS, and it's just as good, if not better than manually filing bug reports. I'm well aware of the privacy settings, but I choose to keep most enabled by choice.

Windows 10 Works quite well for me. It only needs a bit time to use where the different settings are.

I tried out the Microsoft Edge too and it's odd to see it's not suppording Java not just the Flash. 8O

I guess I keep using the Firefox on my laptop because it seems the Edge has compatibility problems with youtube as well asI experienced.

I should probably save my sharp tongue for Dell but it has correlated rather sharply (within a week) with a fried Haswell i5 ULV motherboard. They improved everything but what I needed, and I presume Microsoft would fix the registry error I reported (an 8.1 throwback) but my only such PC is fubar'd, until Redmond rolls all this out to my i7 Samsung.

Bleh. Back to Linux, probably forever...

In short, it's not that better than Windows 7, but way better than Win 8.

Note: To get full experience of windows 10 speed, you MUST install it on a good SSD.

Laptops' default HDDs suck big ass.

I still haven't upgraded because I can't. Downloading and installing updates on my Windows 8 laptop is like trying to pull teeth from a crocodile. They either don't download at all or they download and start to install and I get an error message. I primarily use my iPad for internet stuff so it's not too big a deal for me. I'm done with Microsoft; if I get another laptop in the future, it'll be a Mac.

Windows 10 is faster than Windows 7 and its much easier to use the search function as seemingly every file is indexed on Windows 10. Windows 10 menus are unfortunately all called "settings" and are spread out all over the place in a disorganized manner which makes it a pain in the ass to find anything.

Cortana is pretty much useless other than doing hands free web searches. It cannot browse files or folders. It can set reminders for you (big deal). It only tells the weather in °F instead of Celcius which the rest of the world outside of America uses.

There is a bug with the sound dial on my Logitech keyboard that causes the screen to flash which neither Windows nor Logitech seem to be in any big hurry to patch.

There are some bugs which don't allow you to download or open email attachments for some reason which I really find annoying. Overall the OS is way less user friendly than Windows 7 and despite the increase in performance, productivity wise it feels like you have one or both hands tied behind your back while using it. If menus are hard for me to find then its going to be a pain in the ass for 80% of Windows users as well.

Having Windows 10 spy on absolutely every last file and keystroke certainly doesn't thrill me but doesn't look like we will have a choice. It certainly feels a whole lot like the concept of learned helplessness, keep spying more and more until the users just give up complaining about privacy infringements and surrender.

I didn't know you could get Windows 10 for free, I'll have to look into it. Just it just replace my existing Windows (7) and keep everything the same or do I need to back everything up and reload it?

Always back up everything anyway.
