Doesn't really look all that special. Apart from the dual lenses, it isn't really a major upgrade from the last versions. Lack of a headphone jack is a really bad move - a typical Apple trend to ditch long used tech, but this time towards a tried and tested 3.5mm jacks that... don't really have a disadvantage and it's not just smartphones that use them.

I'm keeping my S7.

Why do they feel this need to keep making phones thinner and thinner? I'd gladly take a thick phone if it meant better battery life, better cooling, more performance, and a more durable housing. I don't want a fashion accessory, I want something practical that can take some abuse.

I'm with ya, but unfortunately our economic model is predicated on consumption. So the "new thing" has be more shiny, thinner, faster, etc, etc. This helps create a sense of lack or dislike for what you currently have, you will feel the need to go out and buy the new widget, and feel amazingly happy until the next thing comes along. It's a vicious cycle.

It is very true, the consumer electronics industry is largely built around disposable gadgets and planned obsolescence. It drives me nuts.

The only reason I would bother upgrading is if my iPhone 6s bites the dust. My iPad Air 2, on the other hand, I would gladly trade for a 256gb iPad Pro (since I do a good bit of audio recording.)

The battery in my iPhone 6 is not performing well. That plus the headphone jack issue are enough to make me consider switching to an android phone when this device succumbs to planned obsolescence.

Besides, with the bluetooth transmitter running, you'll also be burning up more battery than you would with traditional headphones. --Plus you now have to recharge your headphones as well.

I have iPhone 5c, I can't use my phone very much. I'm glad I don't talk on the phone, I only talk to my grandmother, but I get alot of junk calls.

For not much more than the price of an Iphone, i could get a Blackphone instead.

See https://www.silentcircle.com/

For what it's worth, I'm considering getting a second cell phone. We have two cell phone towers in my area owned by AT&T and Verizon. I'd like one cell phone on each system so that if one tower is down for a few hours, then I'll still have the other.

Not me. I'm still using a droid 4 because I need a physical keypad.

I relied on my 4s without the desire to upgrade, the only reason I have upgraded to the 7+ (it's on order) is due to the fact that the 4s is no longer supported for iOS updates. I am also looking forward to more GB and a really nice camera setup. I will miss the chunkiness of the 4s and the thin is good thing with new phones is going to make me more nervous about breaking it. As for the headphones I scored some wireless beats which are more comfortable (due to that old school headphone design) than sticking earbuds inside my ears and will not get lost (I also never liked getting earwax on earbuds and was constantly cleaning them). I hope the new phone doesn't have overheating problems.

I'm still using my Galaxy Note 4. Don't see much point in upgrading to anything else right now. I hope that in a year or two there still will be some new android phones with replaceable battery and storage.

I had the iPhone 4 till the point they stopped supporting them. I then upgraded through a BestBuy loophole to keep my unlimited data on Verizon for the iPhone 6. I still have the 6, but not as reliable as the 4. I did order the new 7 to extend my contract, but sold it for a decent profit. I played with it for a bit. Besides the camera, didn’t see much of an improvement.

Some people may not realize that Verizon phones come unlocked with both GSM and CDMA.
