It's not fair do say one is smarter than the other when they live in a totally different reality. As small as they are they are very limited while chimps might be compared to us, thousands of years of evolution could change this. In my opinion it's a different kind of smart. Ants got the knowledge printed in their brain (and/or maybe communicate with workers and mimic them too at some point) while chimpanzees usually learn most of their knowledge by mimicking the adults (so more comportment modification is possible). also ants needs a trace of smell to walk, they're very robotic, while chimpanzee have better eyes and ears.
