It’s a learned behavior. You can always tell the reptile people when someone yells “snake”,we run to the snake to get a look instead of running the other way.

Many animals are instinctively afraid of snakes, perhaps it's something that's present in human beings to some degree. I've always liked them. Growing up we had snakes living around our house so it's just something we knew was there and accepted. One of my friends keeps snakes and I love having a hold of them every chance I get.
Yeah its instinct. The strangest thing is how some snakes don't seem to have an inherited fear of us, I don't know if this is the early process of domestication but most of my snakes are more tamed than my guinea pigs.
