Is the above pik , even a Lovo? looks like a unsuccessful plane design from the 1800s... :) .....

Is a vertical boiler rack and pinion loco designed specifically for going up and down steep hills from the look of it.

They did a lot of rack railways in Switzerland as well as other places. There is even a rack railway climbing to just below the top of the highest mountain peak in Wales!
