ME was on the computer in the 1st place. [Certificate Of Authenticy can prove it.]Its not like i using a different Operating System.
If you want to know real pirating just go into anybody elses house in America with Limewire Installed. Almost 33% of Software that Computer Vendors ship with thier computers is pirated.[Google Scholars.] You can also read Censuses conducted by the government. Way do you think my 1st plan was to install Linux.[Open-Source]

So your redirecting blame... Putting that coperate disk or using your retail disk is pircacy. Doing it on a customers computer makes it even worse. I hope your supervisor finds out and you end up walking the unemployment line.

My supervisor knows very well what i`m doing and didn`t say a word wrong about it. Example- A retail disk form Dell is the same as One from HP or WallyWorld. In fact if the FBI were to do a piracy check they won`t care about the cd. They`ll check the Product Key on the back of the Laptop and the one used to install ME and know its not pirated. Otherwise if you Recovery CD from you vendor broke you`re screwed.[ Thats technically how you put it.]

Wrong, Dell and HP have OEM versions - Wallyworld would have retail. also there are countless builds of XP - each with a unique security algorithim that only certain keys work with.

Wrong again, you can order recovery CDs from almost any manufacturer - which if you actually work for a decent institution they most likley have a copy of the most common recovery CDs for staff, student and institutional computers (which is not pircacy seeing as recovery CDs only work with a certain model computer which already is licenced for that recovery CD). But then again you probobly dont seeing as your boss is ok with your actions.

i have a feeling you looked at my avator :) (door closer at computer) its my antiviral software as well, but verizon/yahoo calls it yahoo online protection. i have looked at the processes it runs and also looked at symantec website and seen that YOP is same thing as NIS 2008 but with a differant name since its free from verizon on the yahoo build.

about the student's lappy, there may be drivers out for the video card as well if its just the driver being corrupt, there may be some manufactuere updates for it but if you have, do microsoft updates there may not be any to cover winME, MS has stopped supporting win 95,98,2000 (i think) and ME about 3 or more years ago.

if worst comes to worst it may be time to upgrade or replace the MOBO and while in "surgery" check to make sure the connections are secure between MOBO and display backlight

good luck, if still have problems, pm or im or email me using the buttons next to profile

You probably already checked this, but did you check to make sure the Video output is set to the laptop screen, not the analog out ( or what ever type video out it has). Usually its something like function-f3 that changes it. Probably not the problem, but might as well check all your bases.

Well Your Idea Worked DoorDoctor. I cleaned the computer inside and out. Reconnected any loose wires/connections. Download the latest Driver for the Video. Made a backup of all the Windows ME/ HP updates and Programs and wiped the drive reinstalling ME. Installed all updates including one for Standby Mode [Which HP Support said was the issue.] Than Upgraded the Memory to 192MB and gave the guy a Ubunthu CD if interested in upgrading to a much better OS. Thank you very much. Now i have some more Lappy Knowledge for my Upstart Computer Buisness.[ Unlike Most Vendors i sell Linux on a lot of Machines to increase CPU Effeciency and sell CPU`s for cheaper prices.[So far so good if it wasn`t for Linux not having ITunes capatibilty but overall very good software.]
