The key sequence for OS X is Cmd+Shift+4.

Also, the printscreen key doesn't work if you're running Linux on a Mac. You have to use the screenshot utility provided by the OS.

Oh, and never use a paint program for bitmap graphics editing if you want to do anything complex; they're just not that powerful. Use Photoshop, GIMP, or some other full-featured graphics program.

Agree. Its just that windows doesnt create an image when you press print screen, it just fills the clipboard, right? So you have to paste and save it.

Sorry, I've never used PrintScreen before.

You have right clicked the image in its public folder, and selected dropbox, then get public link?

I'm not entirely sure how to post my desktop, do I use my camera?

If you are using windows or linux, you press the printscreen button.

From there, if its windows, you would open paint, gimp, photoshop or whatever, and "paste as new image" or something like that.

OSX has a special key press sequence, but I do not recall it at this moment.

Do you have a host at which to place the image?

you're making it far too complicated. the person just needs to hit the print screen button, then save the picture as whatever they wish. There's no need to open any of those image programs. Then the person could just upload their picture to imageshack or something, then link it to here.

You are remarkable in your inability to ever say anything positive. Whats more annoying is your inability to parse simple sentences.

Printscreen, as late as windows Vista(and five seconds ago), gives no visible effect. It places the data in the clipboard. You need to paste it into some program. Thus my list. Maybe You missed me saying that... Twice?

Imageshack needs an account. They will have to sign up, upload images get bugged about tags, and collect the url. Dropbox is no more complicated than that. And I have not complicated it? Please.

I have updated my desktop dramatically in the last 5 months. I now have my dock located at the bottom of the screen; additionally, I have some new applications. Obviously, I also have a different background.
