That would be cool, sometimes it's really frustrating to try getting the really old games to play nice with newer hardware, especially since most of them didn't have frame limiters.

We used to have a pair of IBM PC jr.s that were all decked out with the max upgrades, even the nice wired keyboards. I miss those, they ended up getting sold. Would cost a heck of a lot to replace them now, I doubt the guy we sold them to even used them.

We had a bunch of old 8088s (probably?) with monochrome monitors (all amber, as far as I can recall) that were dumpster finds, dad ended up scrapping the metal for cash =/ Wish I would've held onto at least one of those...
I did keep a bunch of the keyboards though, they were IBM Model-Ms. Very nice keyboards.

If you're replying to me, you must've missed the part where I said that it "Would cost a heck of a lot to replace them now" ;)

That is the most frustrating part about this hobby of desiring the vintage computers from my childhood: the scalpers on eBay. People on ebay who just happened upon a warehouse auction who want hundreds or even thousands of dollars for this hardware. It makes me extremely angry because the prices are higher than I can afford or even justify paying, yet I really would like to have a few specific pieces from my childhood. Part of the reason I like vintage computers is that It allows me to just pretend I'm not in the real world with real stress factors. I can escape into another time, tinkering with an old Tandy or IBM or Mac, and forget all about the fact that I'm 37 with s**t credit and a dead end IT job, etc. It allows me, in short to hide from my problems rather than face them head on, and for me, that is the best way to cope with things.

I probably said this earlier in the thread, but even if you find a good, honest seller, it's either going to cost a whole lot to ship it, or they just won't ship the case (which is causing old cases to become more scarce).
You'll probably have a lot more luck looking locally, unless you don't mind buying your computers piece-by-piece.

My 11 year old son found a PC older than him in the basement - managed to boot it to ubuntu and now playing tetris on it :-) Ir originally had Windows XP on it. I think the hard disk is dead but the CD is working.

I've found this becoming an issue as well. Some of the laptops I collect are maybe a bit more 'modern' (2000-2007 Thinkpads and Dell Latitudes), but even so they now frequently attract the 'Vintage' description on Ebay. Two or three years ago, you could get a decent fully-working Thinkpad from the T20/21/22/23 or T40/41/42/43 series for around £30-£35. Same went for the D500/505/510/520/530 and D410/420/430 Latitudes. You could even get some of the earlier 'C' series Latitudes for around £30-40.

Today that price range will only get you a 'spare parts' machine, and you'll mostly be paying £60-80 for something half-decent. £80-£120+ is not uncommon for a machine that has allegedly been 'refurbished'.
