WinAMP's better than both, but Windows Media Player is still alright. Real Player is awful.

Real One player is evil it tries to take over all of my media files even when I tell it not to. I don't much like Quick Time either so yeah I'd after to go with Windows Media Player.

Real player...Nah...
Windows Media Player 11. Cool I guess.
Quick Time. There because some games require it. It would be uninstalled otherwise.
Winamp? What is that?

Definitely mplayer (on GNU/Linux). It plays just about anything and is very comfortable to use (command line interface, nice shortcuts etc.). I just love it. ;]

Heh, you are the second person, I met in my entire life who thinks command-lines are comfortable to use. I share that opinion. Also I like how mplayer can display things with the Aalib :)

Make that three of us.

I pity people who get to the limits of a UI, and then are stuck.

I'll go one better (worse?) than command line - I'll write C programs to GENERATE command line scripts.

Command line will work with mplayer or vlc (heck I learned the command line via DOS when I was a kid NOW that was fun). (terminal mplayer media file or vlc media file) I use the command line when it is quicker (like installing multimedia codecs for Ubuntu Edgy Eft)

... to whichever brick wall you hit, when they refuse to do what you want.

PS. Actually, YOU still use this "stuff", because behind the graphical interface, everything that happens merely invokes the command line code. (Although Windows programs try to hide that.)

I like the command line for programming and development and prefer it to guis. I spend most of my workday in vim. ;) However I use windows for most non-work stuff: Playing games, watching movies, browsing the web, music production/synths, poker, etc. 10 years ago I used linux as my primary OS, now I use a mix of the two.

I use Windows Media player myself.

I agree - Realplayer is pure trash.

I have no idea what you said, but I'll nod and agree anyhow.

Winamp is an alternate music player for Windows. It was created by some kid in 1997 and has basically become one of the most popular shareware programs on the internet. This kid sold his company Nullsoft to AOL (well, Time Warner now) in 1999.

I suggest downloading the free version off the official website. My rule of thumb is: if a program is made for release free by a publicly traded company, chances are there's no viruses attached if you download it from the official site.

In my opinion Realplayer is OK and Windows Media Player is psychadelic.

Windows Media Player because its not a Memory Hog and its made by Microsoft. Bill Gates is a smart man how knows what he`s doing which makes him my role model and the reason why Microsoft owns the market.[ Bill Gates is also a Fellow Aspie like us.]

Of course it is. Most of it is built into the unwieldy OS.

A definite liability.

Yes... getting out of Microsoft before the crash'n'burn.

Soon to be past tense.

No. He is not.
