I actually need an insecure wireless network just for my Nintendo DS could work. If I ever find someone I don't know using my network, I just ban them using the MAC access control list.

I use that, too. I only allow specific MAC addresses to connect and everything not on the list is banned.

After I created a secure profile yesterday, is that now my default connection? Do I have to log in every time i go online? I still have problems with getting disconnected, but I don't know if my neighbours were online this morning.
I'm having my building society/owners association sending these people a letter or phone them, telling them to get their own connection. I have no idea if they are going to understand it at all.
The problem started suddenly this week. I can't understand how my connection can be like this when the wireless system is set up for use with multiple computers, but I really hope I can get this fixed. I don't really understand why I suddenly lose connection when I enter websites I've visited hundreds of times before! Are my neighbours the ones who are crashing my connection or is there some kind of bug/script/hacking/whatever on those websites?!?

You are using windows, right?

Regardless of the operating system, there are several ways to tell what activities are happening. For example, if you have a virus or spyware, using windows, go start, run, cmd

in the command line that appears type netstat -a

You will get a list(possibly after a wait) of incoming and outgoing connections. For example, I can see amazon.com, cadvision.com and tribalfusion.com listed. I dont see why these need to be there, but I know they are advertisements. There are only about 20 items listed, and most are outgoing from my machine. Netbios and microsoft are a few, as well as some named for my user account.

What you are hoping to not see is a whole bunch, which could be indicative of malware flooding and denying your internet connection.

I'm downloading Adaware today. It worked well on my old computer.

I've tried Ad-Aware, it didn't solve the problem.
I was advised to check if the firewall could be the problem with the disconnections, but it wasn't that either.
I'm going to see if I can set up the system so that only my computer can be used with the wireless transmitter.

A few tips:

1. Use WPA or WPA2, not WEP.
2. Use a super-strong passphrase

Optionally, set up a DMZ if you cannot use WPA or WPA2.

for the connection breakdown:

Are you sure it's the connection? Could be your browser as well, try to install at least one alternative browser (FireFox, Opera...) and try if that one has the same problems.

That would help prevent spyware. He is talking about the nosy children who love unauthorized access to other peoples networks.

Ad-Aware and firewall checks won't solve the problem here as the problem is with the physical access to the wireless network itself. To stop the unauthorized access by the little devils, use strong encryption.

What you are talking about there is called MAC address filtering. Some routers access points may call it other things such as Wireless Card Access List (on mine)

I've blocked access by my neighbors now, that problem is solved, but I still have the problem wiith getting disconnected on some sites, such as www.myspace.com/epica.

Try connecting to the Internet via a LAN cable and see how long it takes before you get disconnected.

Try using Opera or another alternate browser (you will find that Internet access is faster)

I tried connecting with a cable and I still got disconnected. My computer is the only one I use (I have access to 3, my own, at work and my parents computer) where I have this problem.
Could a faulty IE update be the problem?

Which version of IE are you using (IE naturally has all these problems and they have just sort of started to get a tiny bit better from v7.0+)
Also some of your security settings may be blocking it.

What firewalls/antivirii are you using

I think my IE version is the latest one, and I use Norton Antivirus. As I said, I tried running IE without the firewall, and it still disconnected.
