Well, I have an old iPod I use, so most of my stuff is in iTunes. That said, I chose RealPlayer, because it can play all the same files that I put on my iPod, including the protected FairPlay files from the iTunes Store. But I only rarely use RealPlayer--most of the time, if I just want to hear some music, I use iTunes.

For web content, like embedded videos or MP3s, I would definitely say that, in my experience, QuickTime is a lot faster and more reliable than RealPlayer or WMP. Though this seems to be becoming less of an issue, as most videos I watch online now are in flash (like YouTube).

RealPlayer used to be one of the worst choices out there, as you had to hand over your email address to install it, and it kept shoving ads in your face and installing unwanted software, but the last couple versions have toned it down a bit, and the most recent version--which I use--is just about as good as WMP as far as those things go. That said, I don't think that RealPlayer will ever be able to shake its old reputation...

(I'm on Windows XP and Mac OS X 10.4, BTW)

I've decided to vote for Media Player even though my home computer has Realplayer. I think Windows MP is more friendly than RP, and Quicktime doesn't work on here.

Audio: Foobar2000
Video: Media Player Classic or VLC

If I have to choose on the poll... anything but RealPlayer.

Media Player distracts me when it's using audio, that's why I like it.

Of course it is. Most of it is built into the unwieldy OS.

A definite liability.

Yes... getting out of Microsoft before the crash'n'burn.

Soon to be past tense.

No. He is not.

Well, Windows is in fact a memory hog and will have to agree with that. However Windows is also a Very Customizable OS and is very easy to use and has support with many files across multiple gaming platforms, Mac, and other OSes. Windows also has support for a lot more hardware and software as opposed to Linux and Mac.[ Linksys WIFI cards don`t work on linux and its hard to find good software.] I use Media Player and it works with Ipods and just about any MP3 Player out there and has plenty of file extensions.

How about rephrasing that.. "is the very LEAST Customizable OS".

I'm not sure what this means. Yes, you can play games on Windows.

No.

They do, except the ones where they haven't released enough information to get a working driver.

Plenty, maybe. All, I don't think so.

Neither. iTunes is better than both of them.

I use Media Player Classic with the K-Lite Codec Pack for video and iTunes for music.

I don't like the current Windows Media Player and i definatly don't like Realplayer.
