Ubuntu, but I also like Debian.

I'm gonna have to go with Mint, when I first installed it, everything just worked perfectly, I didn't have to configure a damn thing. I also like it because it's Debian based (I've been using Debian for years) and it's compatible with all of the Ubuntu repositories.

wow, you dig up a 4 years old thread! JohnnyCarcinogen, have you review all the posts in wp yet? (btw It's meant to be a compliment, I just happen to see your posts a lot laterly.)

Back to the question, Ubuntu is the one I'm using but I don't see too much difference between distros.

Haha  I just started looking back at some old topics and didn't realize I was being a necro (let alone the fact that I didn't even know about forum etiquette regarding necroing).

I just got back into WP, so I guess that's why I started looking at old/dead topics. I just was informed that it was bad form to reinvigorate dead topics

I had no idea. I was so embarrassed, because I try to pride myself on good and professional etiquette towards others. But it's hard sometimes.

Ubuntu Hands Down. I've used it for a year now and I have to say that Linux especially Ubuntu can be used by anyone regardless of their computer knowledge.

Well, embarrassed is a strong word. You don't have to blame yourself too much. In fact it's such a legit topic that I woulnd't be suprised if someone started a new thread asking this very question.

Ubuntu is what I've traditionally used, and I like it. I've recently gotten into Fedora, which is also nice. Debian is fine, though it doesn't offer much that you can't get in Ubuntu unless you have non-standard architecture. OpenSUSE is crap though.

For favorite, well, we'll see once the honeymoon is over with Fedora, but it's that or Ubuntu for me.

Debian, because it runs on lots of different architectures (I've got a whole bunch of computers here)

I adore Slackware. But I'm a fan of fewer "pretty" utilities for system settings. I feel more comfortable opening up a terminal window or switching to a text console to get things done.

As much as I love it, I also realize that it's not for everyone.

I can't say since I used 7 different distros. Will be a match between Ubuntu and Redhat Enterprise.

When did you get to use RHEL?

I dunno how RHEL could be better than Fedora... Fedora is much more bleeding edge and up-to-date, as well as having a community backing.

Ubuntu or Mint (Debian, XFCE or Gnome) for less tech minded users who don't want to open up a terminal
Wolvix (Slackware, XFCE) For people who aren't afraid of using terminal and like a fast responsive system
SliTaz (GNU/Linux, OpenBox) It has a pretty good package manager, so avoiding the terminal is easy, and the boot disk can completly upload itself into about 40megs of ram and run without the CD, I dug it out when my laptops HD crashed last week and its been running great.
