Here are some great extensions for the Mozilla Firefox browser.

Ad-Block Plus
Ad-Block Plus removes almost every advertisement from webpages, making them alot cleaner and easier to surf.

Errorzilla
Errorzilla enhances error pages by letting you look up the page on Google's cache, ping it, run a whois request, etc. Good for when you really need access to certain information.

Fasterfox
Speeds up Firefox with performance and network tweaks. Comes with a page load timer so you can see the difference.

Fission
Moves the loading progress bar into the address bar. I like this feature.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1275
Locks the master security device after a predefined period of inactivity to prevent unauthorized use of saved passwords.

Remove It Permanently (RIP)
Remove anything from a webpage permanently. I use this to remove annoying graphics and text from webpages like MySpace profiles.

Restart Firefox
Makes it quicker to restart Firefox, for example after installing addons.

StumbleUpon
A social site that lets you find sites of interest to you with their toolbar. I found WrongPlanet and aton of other cool sites with StumbleUpon.

For anyone doing web work, I reckon Firebug is the single best extension out there, especially if you do a lot of Javascript / AJAX type stuff.

For general use I also really like All-in-one Sidebar. Fellow GMailers might want to try GMail Skins to add a little colour to their inbox

Just installed Fission. Hadn't seen that before and it looks pretty cool. Cheers for that!

that sounds specially useful to block sparkling images of unicorns saying "thanks for the add!! !!1!! !"

I run Web Developer too.

Quote:
Web Developer is another virtual Swiss Army Knife for coding. There's some overlap with Firebug, but where Firebug concerns itself almost exclusively with the content of a Web page, Web Developer offers tools to tweak how you're interacting with the page.

For instance, you can modify cookies on the fly, examining, deleting and even manually adding them. You can tweak form settings, clear private data and disable the cache -- all kinds of real-time manipulations.

Web Developer's features can be accessed as a tool bar, or as cascading menus under Firefox's Tools menu. The tool bar is particularly handy since you can see all 12 of the top-level categories of features at a glance (and, of course, it can be easily turned off when you're not in the midst of site development).

I would agree, Web Developer is also very useful when coding. I don't use it so much these days but it does have a few really good features that Firebug doesn't. Some of the functionality is a little quicker to get to than it is in Firebug as well.
