So yeah, some months ago, I had a violent rage and punched in the screen of my laptop...(please don't think too low of me)...How do I get my files off the hard drive?

the easiest way to to it would be to get a USB Hard drive enclosure for about $20 off Amazon and hook it up to another computer via USB

You can plug an external monitor into the laptop and run a backup. Should have some info about switching screens as they vary between models.

Technically speaking - only professionals should remove hardware components as the wrong handling can shorten their lives in service or kill them before being used

Fortunately you punched the screen, so the HD is ok (unless you have a tablet ...;)
Unfortnately, you broke the monitor, which is the most expensive part in a laptop

yeah, external monitor is your best bet.
never hurts to back up (even do restore points)
