I happened to find an older version of Photoshop. (Version 7 to be exact) I was wondering how to use it for basic image creation tasks. I never dealt with Photoshop before.

It depends a lot on what kind of images you want to create. I like to find Photoshop artists I like and then try to find out what they do. There's an endless variety of techniques that you can do, really. A lot of pros and hard-core hobbyists will put tutorials and tips on their sites. DeviantArt has a category just for tutorials, and Conceptart has a section in their forums dedicated to the subject.

Image creation in Photoshop is a lot of fun, and a lot of work. I like the suggestions from Android for tutorials, and will add one more: Smashingmagazine.com. Photoshop is a favorite there, and I've picked up a lot of good techniques.

I use to watch videos on YouTube If I want to learn something as for me its easier to see a description rather than reading a text on how to do it...
