i just got bit by the wifi bug, watching the rest of my aspie meetup group twiddle on their wifi web tablets but with me just twiddling my thumbs, so i am envious. and when i'm envious i start searching for a cheap version of what my brethren have. what googlesearch i have done has led me to believe that anything less than $100 is unadulterated junque, but i know there must be something i haven't found yet that is good for cheap, somewhere out there in wifi land. firstly, i noticed that people said lots of good things about the nokia 810 wifi tablet [especially about its high wifi sensitivity] but that with the latest changes in the web, that it has become intolerably slow in web browsing speed. i need something that 1] has sensitive wifi reception, more so than the typical wifi netbook], 2] fast glitch-free web-browsing, 3] shallow learning curve for slowpokes like me, 4]user-replaceable battery, and 5] <$100. anybody know any web tablet out there that meets all those requirements?

a 7" screen would be a plus but also a minus since it would not fit into my pocket [unless it had a wide screen and were longer than tall, no wider than 4" at the widest point], i'd have to carry around a backpack or something like that to haul it around, so one with a 4-5" screen probably would be more appropriate for me. i just want to be able to take full advantage of wifi hotspots and search the web/email/youtube wherever i'm at when i'm out and about [plus maybe stream music from internet radio stations]. it doesn't have to have the latest and greatest of games [i never play 'em anyways] or other doodads like video phone capability or GPS [although such would be a nice plus]. it DOES have to be cheaper than $100 AND reliable out of the box. i wish nokia would make an updated n810, because it was the only one i've found with an integrated mini-keyboard, THAT would be a BIG PLUS!

anybody in WP land willing to proffer any suggested products? thanx in advance :)

i doubt such a thing with all that criteria exists. Though id recomend searching craigslist for used tablets in that price range. And make sure to test them properly before buying.

Nexus 7, hands down. If you want to save some bucks, I'm thinking that the 8 and 16 GB models should be going fairly cheap on eBay since they came out with the 32 GB (ie., people upgrading). Personally, I've got a 16 GB (pre-ordered before public release) and I love it. Very handy, nice and fast, and I haven't had any hiccups at all. Good response and sensitivity on wifi.

unfortunately, too big and too expensive even on ebay [cheapest i found was $150]. i need something compact, a lot like the nokia n810 but up to date concerning speed/performance.

Sorry, but any tablet meeting your feature criteria would be too expensive for you. You'll either have to increase your budget or lower your standards.

Right now, a decent tablet in the sub-$100 price range is the holy grail of retail electronics. If anyone could make one, it would sell sell sell. If the manufacturer could meet demand, which would probably be unlikely because world tablet manufacturing is pretty much maxed out on the expensive tablets. But if there was any way to make a decent sub-$100 tablet, someone would be doing it right now.

In 2013, the secondary market is probably going to be flooded with used Kindle Fire tablets as people upgrade and dispose of their old ones.
