So I'm trying to relaunch my webcomic, and for efficiency ComicPress seemed the way to go. But despite Wordpress' "five minute install", it's been two days and I've gotten nowhere.

Does anyone know anything about WordPress and can help me with my problem? Because it seems not even web design or tech support professionals I've contacted know. I'll describe it further if someone steps forward.

Well I've installed it before.

Do you have experience using shared hosting? If not you might be better off with a Wordpress.com account rather than your own copy.

This is the start of thing I find easy, because if there is a problem (which there inevitably is), I have enough technical knowhow to sort it.

However from experience I’m less good I being able to explain the basics to someone from scratch.

Have you tried installing it on a test sever first? Does your host meet the requirements? What is the point at which it fails.

There is nothing spectacular about the wordpress software to be honest. They just timed everything right and it took off. Thy have stayed true to for it does what it says on the tin. It is also very pluggable, and they have a huge plugin repository. Some of the plugins are good some of the plug-in are very poor indeed.

As far as your wordpress issue, i'd be happy to help where I can but I'd really like to know what your problem is.

I've worked a bit here and there with wordpress.

Hey everyone. Thanks for offering your help but it looks like (to my surprise) the issue has resolved itself. My site is now running perfectly fine.

A case of "Operator Error" very common, look in a mirror, say, "I can do this" Three times.

Me personally, I like to crack my knuckles and say "this time for sure" in a Bullwinkle voice.

two days? The longest install I ever saw was a floppy-based install of Banyan Vines that took 3 hours...(36 floppies...this was a long time ago...;)

well, if it's working fine, that's good. I was gonna mention the cup-holder, but someone's already started that kinda stuff...;)

Well bear in mind there were points I was so frustrated that I was ready to commit murder, so I had to step away to calm down (I'm easily frustrated by computers, ironically why I chose WordPress in the first place).

Actually one issue HAS arisen. None of the images I upload to the media library show up when I try to post them in the pages. They all show up as broken and only the descriptive text shows up in it's place. There's even a blank space where my header image is supposed to be. Any advice?

broken, usually refers to a path issue; though there's the possibility that the program doesn't recognize the sort of file extension you have (though I doubt it). Depending on the OS, it might be either (unless you set a file/program association).

Can you tell us more? Screen caps? OS? etc?
