Very creepy, It just comes to prove that the government can get info on everything. 1st its President Bush and the Patriot Act, then the government pays Microsoft and Adobe to spy on you and the FBI can spy on you via Norton Antivirus. I do not think Government should have these rights on the average citizen. It sucks that the U.S Government is no better than the Peopls Republic of Chinia and the deal with Skype.

I'd add Symantec to my boycott list along with Skype, but I've already been boycotting them just because it's a sh***y product.

Seconded.

And really, the Gov't should stay the heck out of Joe Shmoe's life.

I would not be surprised if the rest of the antiviruses don't include FBI tools there either. It seems like a legal issue.

I have never really trusted commercial software. I bet you didn't know that they have back-doors in Windows for the same purpose.

Heh, it didn't start with the Bush admin. it's because of the advancement of technology.

You want to know how easy it is to find people?
Try this site. Spokeo

Fortunately it is prone to errors about facts concerning some people I know, but I don't like how it shows home address and names of family members, economic level, etc.
Our lives are becoming more and more transparent all the time... :x

I'm glad it isn't very good. I asked the site to remove my information, just the same.

As far as spying from the govt. goes, people with whom I'm acquainted, who work in intel say they don't have the time or resources to spy on everyone, just 'people of interest'.
Personally, as long as it isn't somebody casing my house, or looking to cause me trouble, ehh, I don't really care. :p

They don't really need Norton anyway. As a founder of an ISP and VOIP provider, I can tell you that the Patriot Act gives the FBI full authority to barge in and watch everything on an individual's internet connection without a Court Order. I can't go into any details about the cases we've been involved in, but I can tell you that they seem to do things in what seem like a moral fashion. They try to filter down what they watch to only what is relevant even to the point where if they see traffic that they don't think they should be seeing - they contact the ISP and try to build a better filter.

I always thought that Norton products were always evil in their own ways.... However they always were quick at detecting the viruses I've been catching lately. :)

What is a person of interest?
I think FBI are only catching small fish.
The Big Bad Guys are not plotting armageddon on the internet.
They're probably communicating over X-rays from the ESB in NYC.
They probably bought out the government.
Even Ben Laden knew his phone was being tracked.
Are FBI bugging the whole world or just Americans?

The news tells such dumb stupid lies I feel embarrassed to hear them.

If we believe computers are ALIVE and get SICK we can be fooled again.
SEE, Windows popularity is NOT why it gets these "viruses".
MS knows how to fix Windows. Its simple. And they broke it on purpose.
Antivirus also knows how, but it would put them out of business.
There ARE "virus-proof" versions of windows that Microsoft doesn't sell.
If you fix it yourself you have to hack out the EULA first.
Its also very hard to remove virus code without open source software.
Especially in millions of lines of unnecessary code.
Windows Drivers are redundant to the ones for everything in the BIOS,
without which nothing would work until the impossible disk boot finished.
BIOS even has printer drivers. Windows ones just lie about running out of ink.
Most digital cameras don't need drivers, which just upload your pictures to
somewhere, according to the firewall. BIOS already drives USB.

Macs started out with 128K, a floppy, and no hard drive.

I just don't see why the gov't should spy on citizens. Most crooks will be caught red-handed one day anyways so why bother wiretapping and such.
