Can you tell us in more detail what you've tried and what it did? It does sound like a graphics driver problem, but i simply don't get enough info to help you. What graphics card are you using?

Is that the "display driver stopped responding" error? If so, the first thing to try is to update your display card driver. Where did get your driver from? The laptop manufacturers are usually slow in updating the drivers. You'll want to use the latest one from the manufacturer of your GPU. But since it's laptop we are talking about, you may also need to find a patch to use the reference driver. There are also already patched and tweaked drivers from a number of sites. It's not hard to find by googling. They are sometimes called optimized drivers.

If you're willing to spend money, get Windows 7.

I'm not against upgrading to Win7 but it's unlikely that will fix this problem. However, installing Windows from scratch may help, if you are willing to endure the trouble.

Yeah, try that.
