Hey, does anyone know of a program that makes an exact copy of the layout of a HDD? I have XP and Win7 on a Dual-Boot setup. My Win7 occupies a 140GB partition on a 3rd Hard drive while the XP occupies on its own Hard Drive. I would like to also remove XP too. (No point in keeping it since I have another computer set up with XP itself). I been trying to figure out solutions for a month before coming here for help =/

Download an Ubuntu live CD or SystemRescueCD (the rescue CD is better).

Then use dd to clone the hard drive.

(Click it)

I used Clonezilla http://clonezilla.org/ the last time I bought a new hard drive - it is literally a follow-the-prompts solution to clone a whole hard disk.

If you are moving Windows from one place to another place (e.g. to put Win 7 onto the first partition of the first drive) then you will also need to run some Windows configuration program to rewrite the bootloader.

Ah I see. Thanks. From Disk Management, Can I shrink the volumes of XP and 7 Partitions. (XP partition (186GB) shrinking would lose up to 70GB while Win7 (116GB) would lose about 50gb. Perhaps making it a bit easier or something. Course I don't want to clone the entire disk since uhhh Win7 shares space with a 390GB partition designated as "storage".
I look at clonezilla in the morning then =P.
