Chemistry Discovery with Gallium - Aluminum Mixture
I think I've discovered something that could have important consequences on the use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel. If you are familiar with Gallium metal then you have problably heard how a Gallium - Aluminum mixture can be placed in water and break up the water to release the hydrogen gas.
I put up a YouTube video showing that you can dissolve Magnesium in this Gallium - Aluminum mixture and have it break up water.
I've discovered that you can also dissolve Sodium metal in this Gallium - Aluminum - Magnesium mixture as well. You can put this in water and break up the water safely without the dangers usually associated with Sodium metal and water.
I am wondering if you think this is something "major" that I have stumbled upon.

It is problematic I am afraid. There is a peak-gallium event looming and aluminum production is enormously costly in terms of electricity.
A mention of peak gallium http://www.straightdope.com/columns/rea ... bal-crisis
some info on the production of aluminum. http://science.howstuffworks.com/aluminum2.htm

The last thing you should do is to post about it on a public forum, unless you are not going for patent rights.
