Is it just me, or is Google becoming the new Netscape? It seems like every month or so I read about Microsoft making allegations against Google, accusing it of being a monopoly, etc., trying every method they can think of to make it weaker. They've figured out they can't use Aggressive Marketing Tactics anymore, so now they're trying to make Google illegal.

That because Google is the only company that currently has the capability to endanger their holding on common people PC OS market, so basically they are trying to sink them before they release a desktop OS and then common people realize Windows is an overpriced OS for most user, since Google going the open source road. (Trouble is that gamers still risk to be stuck with windows for directx reason if game developer don't decide to transfer to OpenGL).

This could already be done if common user knew about OS like GNOME, but to me common user barely know how to take care of basic stuff in windows, so asking them to find a linux OS is a bit out of reach. =p

But since Google has mass distribution capability and they are using Linux build, then linux OS might become a common thing in the future, especially they might have enough influence that it become available on pre-build computer market.

But Google OS are quite basic, so I don't think they will have much on them for more advanced user, at the very start, who want more then to surf the net. But since they are open source they is also a lot of room for rapid increase of the capability of the system with expansion module.

Google will soon replace Microsoft.

Microsoft are still doing well because of their existing user base and contracts for office systems and software, but open source office programs are free and just as good, and their attempts at entering the hardware market - apart from the Xbox 360, though even that had a major fault - have all been utter failures (Zune anyone?).

I predict that within the next 10 years or so, Microsoft will go poof, Google will be the new scarier Microsoft (in that Google's business relies on them knowing as much about their users as possible), and Apple will take the current position of Google, except they'll be more expensive.

In fact, Apple isn't even competing against Microsoft anymore, they compete against Google now. It's already started.

Microsoft can suck my balls. I mean that. I hate this OS. The only reason I use it is because I'm a computer gamer. Right now most games are for Windows. :(

I don't hate Microsoft's software. What I hate is their business practices, which are sleazy and sometimes illegal. Steve Ballmer reminds me of that bully we all knew as kids who would go around the playground beating up smaller kids, then when any of them stood up to him he would throw a fit. Every time any competitor gains more than .000000000001% market share, he sees them as a threat. He has been ranting for years about how Linux infringes on Microsoft's intellectual property; he just can't think of what patent it infringes on. He is the 15th richest person on the planet, and he just wants more. He's just a douche.

He just wants to do his job, which is to protect Microsoft's market share. If he was just like "Well we already got plenty of money, let's just take it easy for a while," then Microsoft's shareholder's would be pissed, and rightfully so.

That's right. It's all about money. Money money money money money money money money money money. I love America!

Yes, I know stockholders want to make more money, but the fact is Microsoft is a monopoly, and monopolies are illegal. At least, they used to be.

I'm afraid that's my position as well. Windows 7 is OK though, XP was better. XP and 7 were the only worthwhile MS Oses.(In my lifetime anyway)
