I think that Cloning should be legal expecaly in animals so a lot of people don't have to kill a lot of ideas but what do you think

There should be cloning of animals like unicorns, mamuts or dodos so present people can eat them. Or even better, let us experiment, i.e. Fuzzy would love a narwal with wings

btw I hope Fuzzy is never cloned, look at him at a Starbucks!

We've essentially shut down the ability for evolution to make us "better" because of our fascination with such junk as medicine and health care, and making sure genetic defects survive....

So... how else can we evolve into something better? We can do it ourselves...let's start cloning people. Hrm.. we could clone a few for food too, couldn't we? Wonder if the theory it tastes like chicken is true of the one that it tastes like pork?

But, we could start fiddling around with this gene and that gene, and eventually, after we had a few 300 foot tall cyclops with wings and mermaid like tails on them... we might be able to figure out what all the various genes do...
Then, we could start to modify our own genes by gene replacement therapy.
Got the cash? you can have your own pair of wings grown from your own tissue in less than 3 days!! !!

We could engineer our brains to be bigger still, so we could be even smarter. Maybe even find a way to reduce the propensity to believe BS stories about the supernatural instead of looking for real concrete answers ourselves.

Actually transhumanism is rather an interesting field of research.
I can't see the religious right jumping on board any time soon though. Unfortunately their view that morality is set externally, and that we must follow that morality. Along with the crazy notion that we are the image of their god... well, we would have no right to "make" life, would we, that would be sacrilegious and blasphemy.
Let's do it!! !!

Evolution doesnt have abilities. Evolution doesnt have goals. Evolution doesnt make things "better".

I think people cloning is a great idea. There are not enough people in the world yet. Certain things happen at certain population thresholds.

They have a better technique for figuring that out, and are well on the way to determining the function of everything.

Already happening.

And get cancer. Healthy tissue doesnt grow that fast. You would need new back muscles too and a change in skeletal structure.

If only! I would love to see religion vanish.

I'm fascinated by it.

I can see new religions developing from it though.

Yeah, someone recently said that we are made in Yahwehs physical image. Very strange.

I know it isn't an ability, goal etc... it's just a property of the random process... but such a pain to use this language of ours to discuss such concepts when it is so poorly fitted for intent-free causation.

I put "better" in quotes because it's only subjectively better in the direction of our ability to replicate our genes.

It's was like following a tree up from the trunk, and watching the weak branches die off... with health care/medicine, nearly every branch survives and splits off into offshoots... Some of the mutated and diseased branches are poisoning the rest of the tree now though, and we are doing everything we can to keep those alive too.

Cloning non-human animals is legal and cloning any kind of plant is legal.

You have a point.
