You know that row of icons at the bottom? I accidentally dragged and dropped an icon on my desktop, and it disappeared in puff of smoke. How can I find it? Please, help a dumbass?

Launch finder.
Find app.
Launch app.
Right click app icon in dock.
Select "keep in dock"
Problem solved.
You're welcome.

You have only taken the apps shortcut off of the dock.
Just click Macintosh HD then click applications then drag the app you lost in that folder to the dock.
